I hope the 64 does well in sales, it might lead to more scale vehicles that aren't crawlers or semi trucks. And I imagine much of the price is to cover the custom transmitter, as while 4 or more channel radios are common; they don't have the right toggles or switches to control servos so they act like hydraulics. The fact they balanced the chassis well enough so you can hop the front end up and sit it on the back bumper is a solid bit of engineering. They need to release a clear body, as I think that would really draw in a lot of people to the hobby. People can hate on low riders all they want, but that crowd has some of the best painters in the automotive world. If I didn't have half a dozen unfinished projects already, I would consider getting one.

Ya, there IS a lot of artistic talent in the low-rider circle ! It would be way cool to see it transpire into a whole new group of RC-ers ! - Maybe the RC group/class could be called..... "the creepers" or "hoppers" ! 🤔 IF, REDCAT is successful with this new segment, - the bodies definetly need to come unpainted in the next batch of kits, so people can do their "own" thing... customize & paint to their liking ! 🙂 Right !!? 🇺🇸

No, not really a scale 60's Impala frame... Up through (and including '64) the Impala had an X-frame (it gets really narrow in the center giving an X shaped appearance) as opposed to a traditional ladder shape. The 65 and later the frame changed to a box that gets really wide in the center (the frame rails pretty much follow the rocker panels of the body). But in the aftermarket there's a huge variety of OEM through more traditional beefed up styles of frame's available depending on what wishes to build. So it's not wrong for a low rider. Besides I don't think that's the point - the body looks scale right and I'll bet a will be a ton of fun to master the the low rider bounce! 😆 I'm interested (I'm honestly not into low rider's), but no I'm not going to buy anyone any time soon... The Element pan hard mounts on the other hand got added to the ASAP list.

JConcepts shows the 'Lloyd' on a trail truck, but there's a monster truck called the Saigon Shaker that runs a body like that, not sure of the actual reference. They're called Club Plaques, the metal pieces on the package tray rear window areas of lowriders. If people haven't, check out Jevries on the Tubes. He's Danish and has been making scale (working lowriders) for a long time now and has been featured in Lowrider magazine. He collaborated with Redcat on this RC (the blue one at least). It's not for everyone, but neither is crawling or monster trucks or scale semi's or bashers or any of it. Just cool to see a company take a chance and branch out.

its not a joke and i for one is happy to see this in the RC community, because now i have electronics that i can add to my crawler trucks and track cars... if you are a real driver that like to drive rc cars fast on track you would see the value in dynamic geometry. lucky for us theres no rules for dynamic chassis in the rc world.. its not even frowned upon like in the "Car world" Ive seen some real custom rock crawlers in hollister CA. these trucks can climb over 10 foot sheer walls.. meaning it can climb to the roof of any given house. I plan to replicate that in the rc world
@HarleyDesignsInc4 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the electronics in the Redcat? The electronics are nothing new really, just a fast servo and some radio mixing. Active/dynamic suspension has been used in RC crawlers many times in the past, there are some good resources out there to reference. The biggest thing is that the weight of the components never managed to outweigh the benefits. Hopefully you can find a good mix for your needs.

Exactly as you said I don't think I would use it enough to justify the $600. As cool as it is I think it would have to be $300 for me to justify this purchase. It would be 95% shelf queen and I just wouldn't get much usage.
