If you're just looking for plans so you can scratch build your own boat, Newton Marine has a huge selection here; www.newtonmarine.com/ The best place I know of to buy pre-cut wood kits is MLBoatworks; mlboatworksrc.com/ Many good fiberglass boats and cowlings are also available from RC Boat Company; rcboatcompany.com/ Between these three you should be able to find almost anything you'd want!

Scott I'm so glad I found your videos where can I get one of these hydroplane who makes them? thanks for your time
@M5PerfHydros5 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest, it's a little bit difficult to get started racing scale replica hydroplanes. All of the boats you see here are custom built by hand, and not something you can buy in any store. The best way to start is to find and follow the various clubs on Facebook or other media and watch for boats coming up for sale. Maybe check the racing schedules of any clubs in your area and go hang out at the races, ask questions, get to know the guys, and you'll often find boats for sale on the spot. A few links to get you started; The largest scale hydroplane racing club in the world; m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=102604076461718&ref=content_filter A builder of fiberglass scale hydroplanes who will build you a complete boat if you want all new; rcboatcompany.com An excellent maker of wood hydroplane kits; woodrcboatkits.com An excellent supplier of all the hardware, motors, radios, etc that you would need to build and maintain a boat; www.allrc1.com

Hi good man.... 😊What's the difference between the long air intake or short intake.. In a hydro like a miss budweiser..... Is showing in this video.... Thanks
@M5PerfHydros5 жыл бұрын
On the full-size "real" unlimited hydroplanes the longer intake was developed for use when racing on salt water. Salt water spray from the sponsons would otherwise enter the airstream doing great damage to the turbine engines. A certain amount of fresh water spray is harmless, so in those environments the longer intake is removed to reduce weight, increase airflow and thus, power. Generally when you see an r/c guy use the longer intake it is because another racer "owns" the registration rights to boat that uses the shorter intake. In our club, only one model of each version of the boat is allowed to race. I hope that answers your question? Thanks for watching!
@ricardoprieto71245 жыл бұрын
@@M5PerfHydros yes... I know in the real boats is for this..for the salt water...when the water dry..the salt remains there, and it is like sand... the turbines don't like eat this ☺️ In the model, the long intake is very beautiful and make realistic look... Is a pleasure read and listen your words. I'm learning a lot. 😊👍

How long can you run a nitro boat out of water before the engine gets too overheated? What happens when it does get overheated?
@M5PerfHydros5 жыл бұрын
Well I hope I never find out! The boat should be placed in the water as quickly as possible after starting. The engines are surprisingly robust, but you can definitely destroy one if you run it on the shore for long!
@guitarcleveland5 жыл бұрын
@@M5PerfHydros Thanks. I have a really old boat with a Rossi .61 engine. I only had it running for about 30 trying to mess with the needle valve and the engine froze up. I don't see any other way to tune the engine out of water.
@M5PerfHydros5 жыл бұрын
Oops... 30 minutes is about 29 minutes too long! Whenever I need to run an engine for a long time in the shop I just run water to it from a faucet. I force a large piece of rubber hose over the spigot and use reducers to step the hose size down to the very small size of the fittings on the engine. Now just run a trickle of water through it and run as much as you want. I'm sorry that happened but believe me when I tell you that I've made a great many costly mistakes myself in the past! Live and learn.... Get another one and get after it again!
