I just got back into modelling after 30yrs in my career and, knowing things had changed since I was 10 (53 now), I asked at a hobby store what I might need to get back into it... staff was super helpful, but then this older guy (who had a TON of experience, to his credit) started bombarding me with ‘you need this and this and you need to do this and that...’ I was ‘whoa dude, I just want to build BASIC, clean kits until I’m comfortable!’ My advice to beginners is to start basic - stick with what you’re comfortable, and you’ll know when you’re ready to move to the next level... by then, you’ll have almost all the supplies and tools you’ll need, and you’ll understand how all the washes, filters and whatnot interact to enhance your builds and your satisfaction! #1 - have fun!

@@jerseywalcott6408 I used to make aircraft kits (badly) back in the late 60s- early 70s. My father used to relax after work by building the WW1 & 2 fighting vehicles (tanks etc) he got to the stage of building his own versions of the tanks/trucks that existed in real life but not in kit form, he would take the kit that had the basic cab, chassis etc (Airfix RAF Refuelling kit was a big favourite) and either take the other bits from other kits or fabricate the required parts from sheet plastic, when he died I inherited a few hundred standard kits and just as many that he had produced as really excellent one-offs. I have little interest in them so they are carefully boxed in the loft.

After I saw this I just about threw mine in the trash...lol. This guys planes should be in a museum...To do the camo free-hand is awesome but what I was really awed with was at 21:32 the cockpit canopy is so perfectly painted with no smudges or paint outside the frame lines..gratz. I ordered another kit and I am starting over with more attention and slower moves. Getting the rudder pedals on in the cockpit was very difficult for me but I managed threw it okay using only a tiny bit of glue...lol

August 4, 2020---Actually, you can get GOOD airbrushes (used) pretty cheap via Ebay. Got a double action Paashe that was basically brand new for $30, including shipping. Later on, when my compressor died, Ebay was there again for me. Got a combo set of single & double action airbrushes AND a compressor for $75, again this included shipping. Nephew was looking at the same set on Amazon, but the seller wanted $125?! You can guess where he bought his.

Beautiful build. I'm impressed with your craftsmanship of this well engineered and molded model. The HE 111 I built in the 1960s wasn't nearly as nicely produced as this Revell example. After all this work to produce an authentic rendition of this plane, you should put a swastika on the tail because that's how they were. I know that's a controversial statement these days.

Actually, is a rebox of the ICM He-111 H-6...a lot of last "new releases" of revell are reboxing of another kits of other brands and I think that's bad, because the price of revell is to high for a kit that they don't design and produce.

Mauricio CS They price of the rebox is usually significantly lower than the original kit. Look at the price of the ICM King Tiger and then the Revell rebox. It’s around a $15 difference

This is indeed a very nice kit and a superb build 😊 The kit has one strange flaw though, the port engine outboard cover fasteners are missing, ie. They are not part of the molding… This can be seen at 21:37.

yes, but really the He 111 was designed in 1930 (befor the WW2) as a fast civil Plane for 2 Crew-Members and 10 Passengers (i think).

For me Revell kits are bittersweet. The fit is sometimes not perfect and i feel that some of their kits are over complicated. But the details... oh ... badass!

I'm really baffled that you give Revell kits a thumbs up, when this one has major fitting problems (fuselage and wings needed to have the holes redrilled, huge gaps appeared elsewhere). I guess I will stay clear of Revell, unless they have a kit I can't get from any other manufacturer. That being said, you've done an excellent job fixing this one. Compared to the showcase of new Revell from your previous video (models assembled and painted by the company) you definitely exceed them.

Thank you! Well it's a great kit, it deserves a little extra effort for the location pins. The rest is pretty much great, sharpe of the fuselage etc. I can point some inaccuracies but they don't influence the build itself. There is no perfect kit, but if this one doesn't deserves thumb up I wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't make a video about it at all. All the best! Don't sell yourself short. It just take some knowledge of technique (which this video provides) and some patience. Don't force anything, and most importantly remember that every mistake is fixable. Except maybe cracking a clear part. But everything else is.

One of the things I enjoy about making model whenever that is (I'm not fantastic but I enjoy the process) doing all that preparation and taking care on bits no one will ever see or know off other than me as a builder. It just a slow methodology type thing while I watch war documentaries. Haha it's my thing and and maybe I do it once or twice a year.

I was 15 when I was building models. Also Revel. But there was no Internet back then. I didn't know anyone building models. I needed to travel 30km to buy paints. There was no chance to buy airbrush (too expensive). And I had no idea how you do all those details. I wish I could be 15 again :)

In the old days they only had one type of glue. It would get you so high that mistakes were very common. The glue got everywhere.

Watch a lot of videos on youtube to learn some basic techniques and before you know it you will be putting out some nice model kits but remember its a hobby and you shouldn't put a lot of pressure on yourself to achieve what some of these model builders achieve. Takes many years! Welcome to the family of model builders worldwide!

Real pro. I dont think U have buied masks to other set. Its propably ICM sprues and then repacked as Revell, same thing goes with Do-17 1/72. Great model and stuning work, hats off.

I would like to see you do 2 conversions the first a either a 1/32 or 1/48 hispano buchon with the merlin engine and the same scale casa heinkel111 with the Merlin engines as in the film the battle of Britain

I find it sad that you cannot have the correct tail swastika showing on your model or KZbin, like Nazis, will take your video down. Great job on the model. Beats the Hell out of the 1/72 models I used to build as a kid. Bravo!

I notice that most builders put the decals on after aiding the secondary field camo. Being that most of the secondary camo was applied in the field they painted the camo around the factory applied insignias'.. I doubt that they would apply all new insignias at field bases. Thus the decals should be applied after the factory paint and before the field camo and the camo should go around the insignias be it winter camo or desert secondary field added camo. I'm sure their could be a few exceptions but most of the real pics show the secondary camo was painted around insignias.
