Every time Tamiya levels up its kit game, we get some fantastic kits. These, the Mosquito, the new F-14s, the Phantom and recently the F-35 that just blew my mind

Great build. Fantastic that you built a Spitfire used by the South African Air Force. Just a pity that the red of the roundels were not orange. Regards from South Africa.
@patrickvdl54288 күн бұрын
apparantly this was correct. When 1 SQn SAAF took he Spits from the PFT (Skalski's Circus) they overpainted the squadron codes (ZX) with the dark stone before putting on their own codes (AX). They didn't change the roundels to orange which would have been standard for the SAAF

Great job on this. I have always really liked the sand camo. I see you went to the Malta aviation museum, I would really like to go, I last visited Malta in 1990 before the museum existed. I was fascinated with the Malta spitfires and bought a book from the Valletta museum about them. In there was a Spitfire wreck pulled from the sea. It was a MkVb and it was the whole front section inc the cockpit. You have captured the sun bleached paint, dust and oil staining really well. Admittedly the Vbs got the most action in 1942. I have been considering building a Malta Spitfire, and have been looking into the blue over paint that was quickly applied when they realised the desert camo showed up brightly against the Mediterranean sea from above. Well done from England.

Quit screwing around with those cars and start modelling instruments of war and learn the history of these machines of death, destruction, defeat and victory. C'mon, you can do it. It is a whole new world waiting for you...Welcome aboard. Also, there are incredible military vehicles to model. Tanks, APCs, half-tracks, prime movers, trucks and all sorts of rolling stock. There are good videos on military vehicles, one is Night Shift. Good luck.

David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Tuesday, 8 October, 2024) A splendid job of a spectacular kit! And you built three? By any chance, had you built any in flight? This to include the propeller spinning, a pilot figurine in the cockpit seat, the harnessing securely enveloping him, the undercarriage retracted and their doors closed, the flight controls deflected befitting the highly dynamic movement of sharp manœuvres, etc.
@ScaleModelAircraft16 күн бұрын
I have P-51 in flight, not the Spit. Maybe in the future, who knows. Thank you very much! All the best! Dusan. Edit: yes, three types of the spit in 32nd from Tamiya.

A great Tamiya kit. Outstanding work and video presentation, Dusan. After several 1/32 projects (two of this kit) I switched to 1/24 and built two of four Airfix Mk.IXcs posed in flight. Very good model but there is more work in correcting, modifying and adding further detail that what the Tamiya kit needs. There is an official RAF training film on the preparation, application and maintenance of paint on 'High Speed Aircraft' showing the use of putty and primer filler on the leading edge of the wings of Spitfires. If interested the film and several of my Spitfire build reveals are posted on my channel.

Inspiring work, no question. For me though, I'm disappointed in the panel lining on newer kits. Impressively narrow, maybe 0.5mm. But in scale that's 16mm. A Spitfire with a 16mm gap between panels would never be allowed to fly. I'd rather get an old smooth skinned kit, spend a bit on after market enhancing and try to emulate this standard. Then look for excuses when I fail!

One thing I'll never understand is why these fantastic kits are made in 1/32 scale, couldn't they just make them in 1/35 so that the plethora of kits and accessories available in that scale could be used with them? Is there a solid reason for it?
@leftpastsaturn67Ай бұрын
Apparently 1/35 scale was an anomoly used only by Japanese manufacturers such as Tamiya, 1/32 was the standard for everyone else. Given the 8% difference in size, some of the figures and accessories from the larger can still be used for the smaller.
@antonrudenham3259Ай бұрын
@@leftpastsaturn67 Maybe the figures can be passed off as just small guys or teenagers but when you know the size of say a Spitfire and a Jeep and show them together in their respective 1/32 and 1/35 scale the two look kind of wrong, at least to my eyes they do. I didn't know the Tamiya story so thanks for that, so could we say western kits stick to 1/32 out of a sorta snobbishness or 'not made here-ism'?
@leftpastsaturn67Ай бұрын
@@antonrudenham3259 No, it's more likely that everyone else already had stocks of 1/32 moulds/sculpts etc so they stuck with that scale.
