Great video Paul, really helped me as a modeller who has never used an airbrush. I suggest you watch the vid with the subtitles switched on though, hilarious!

Hi Paul, Brilliant, informative and knowledge-packed video. I'm coming back to models after a 35 year gap. I've used acrylics for art so I'm completely sold on these and would not touch emamels if you paid me. I'm not sure if you can give some advice on what I would need as a good starter airbrush? Sounds from this video like you'd recommend the Neo from Iwata with the larger cup and pinch front? I was also wondering about compressors? I wanted to buy something that would be around for some time, as I will be moving to a more expensive airbrush at some time in the future no doubt. I'm completely ignorant about this, so any advice would be appreciated. I'm planning to work almost exclusively on 1/35 tanks and armoured vehicles. If you have time and feel inclined to respond, that would be great, but if you are too busy, I completely understand. looking forward to seeing more or your work, regards Matt

I hope you read this, how do you do maintenance for that compressor? Don't you need to replace compressor oil and such?

Nice vid! 2 Questions: What are those sanding sticks in the background? They look nice! Any suggestions on a compressor for a beginner? I'm totally new to airbrushing, and I don't know quite where to start...
@InternationalScaleModeller8 жыл бұрын
+Jay Day Hi Jay, tanks for the comments. The sanding sticks are Ultimate Modelling Products, you can get them from here - www.umpretail.com For a beginner, the ebay special is an ideal place to start and only costs about £85. Make sure you get one with a tank - this is the one I started with - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FoxHunter-AS-186-Complete-Airbrush-Kit-Compressor-With-Tank-Nail-Tatoo-Art-/200600974912?hash=item2eb4bff640:g:QRQAAOSwxH1UGATN - don't use the supplied airbrushes, get yourself a decent gravity fed airbrush. Something like a NEO for Iwata, only about £45. Have fun - Lee :)

I'M new to airbrushing, i was given one by my brother.Haven't even used it yet. I was wondering if the spray booth is a must even if I use only acrylics (Tamiya for the must). Because I don't have the space yet

If you were if a well ventilated room and wearing a proper respirator face mask you may be ok doing small parts, but i wouldn't recommend it especially if its a lived in room like a bedroom etc. Have you got a shed or garage you could spray in?
@francispare131010 жыл бұрын
Paul @ ISM thanks for the info. Actually i don't have that kind of space for now. I work on the kitchen table and it's an open area to the living room and kitchen. So I'll do only small parts with window open and the big ones outside until I move into my knew house. This brings me an another question...when I'll be there, I was planning to purchase a spraybooth because I'll have a room to myself for building. Those it have to be ventilated outside ? Because there's no window in that room
@Paul-ProscaleModels10 жыл бұрын
Ideally it needs to vent out side,or all it will do is catch the paint particles leaving the paint fumes in the room , which isn't a good thing

Hi Paul, Is it possible to list the names and brands of all your equipment (spray booth, compressor, ...) you mentioned in this video. It will be much easier for begineers (like most of us are ;-) to do some research on the net if we want to try to reach your skills level ;-) Thx
hi paul I do a lot of airbrushing on model airliner kits with acrylic paint sometimes using enarmel paint,i am working in a medium size room with the window wide open I don,t have a spraybooth as I am trying to save money I use a facemask I don,t be airbrushing for to long I take brakes if a windy day I would occasional open the window into the bathroom upstairs for the wind to blow through for ventilation would you please advise me if this is safe enough, Thanks,
@Paul-ProscaleModels10 жыл бұрын
To be honest david, no. You still allowing the fumes the circulate the room and although you may be wearing a face mask i wouldn't trust that totally. You will also suffer a lot of dust from were the paint has settled too. For a short term solution then you may get away with it for long term you need to think of your health and other factors too.

Good and informative video but it wouldn't hurt if you could try to pronounce a bit more clearly and distinctly cause not everyone watching your channel is a native English speaker. Sometimes I had a hard time understanding what you've said...
