Sonata supposed to start from passages in violin party, its sounds boring I don't know what composer wanted to say with lirics but tando theme would like to be sounding better in malaguenia style with expression and virtuosity...Paganini's Genoa style of playing alike .basic necessity of piano factura are not met.

The violin sounds wonderful and romantic.Unknown Composers should be played more often in public.

Can only add another word of thanks & appreciation to B.C. for showing, to those of us who love fine music, such hidden gems of composition & performance. Humbling, to be ignorant of such treasures - & grateful, above all.

I would use the words drama and romance to describe this composer. I loved listening to this recording!

I haven't heard the whole recording but the opening Sonata Op. 12 is incredible, both in composition and performance. The Romance Op.4 is outstanding; truly cantabile in the style of that period and worth playing on its own, just to have the people nearby ask you what it is.

Brahmsian and Straussian conception seem to be the leading spirit of the Sonata Op 12, really interesting and full of a certain abstract tension ( typical of the german heritage...)that explains, in a certain way, the high spiritual tendency present also in some of his pupils ( Barber ), obviously in another form.... Beautiful Music, performed with passion and great musicality! Bravo Brilliant, Thanks a lot!

Oui un vrai trésor! tant pour la partie piano en accompagnement que pour la partie soliste en violon. De très beaux duos! Contente de voir le commentaire d'une mélomane française. On est souvent peu nombreux. Salutations lyonnaises...

This is so *ffing terrific and deep! Inexcusable to not have stumbled upon him earlier. Thank God there's still time to find out more about him... This one is up to par with Brahms' and Schubie's Chamberian musicalia. Good job Maestro!

Thankyou so much for dl this . It is gorgeous Germanic music from an Italian mostly taught by Italians except for Mandyczewsky .I have always heard about Scalero : he taught George Walker ,the very famous and great Barber ,and the wonderf Menotti ,Blitzstein(poor B we never hrear his music of those 4 .Even Walker important Black American composer got a Pulitzer very late in life ! Scalero is very old-fashioned so I don't expect a return . Ihear Brahms Gmajor Sonata . he even quotes one of the piano pieces in the first selection here .Another Italian like Busoni and many other Italians Martucci, at the beck of the Germans and why not even Boulez and most were .
