In this video I will be reviewing the non sound version of the ScaleTrains HO Scale Mechanical Reefer. This model has a ton of detail and runs well on the layout.

Man you always review the stuff I am interested in buying - very helpful when making decisions.

Oh good! I’m glad! You will love these.

These look great! I was about to order a dozen or two… then I saw basically all of the non sounded versions were sold out. I think they’d look good behind my incoming MRL 70aces or BNSF 4449 from BLI.

These are great looking models. There are still some available on YankeeDabbler.com. You should pick up a few.

@@modelrailroadingthesouthwest thank you so much. A tsunami sound car is what I was thinking for them. Maybe two cars with them and a bunch in between.

I bought a few of these and I think they look great. One thing I found out is that if you don't have the space for wider curves, they will derail if you put two back to back. I have to separate mine with a few cars in between. Perhaps a longer shank coupler would help.
@modelrailroadingthesouthwest5 ай бұрын
What size are your curves? I honestly think it might be the weight of the car. Might be a little too tall and too long for its weight.
@tracksidethomas5 ай бұрын
@modelrailroadingthesouthwest The outside curve are Kato 730s and the inside are Kato 670s. 2-240 and 2-230.
@modelrailroadingthesouthwest5 ай бұрын
@@tracksidethomasyeah looks like you have wide enough curves. You have 26” and 28” radius curves. I say add some weight to them and you’ll have less derailments.
@RonStanek5 ай бұрын
You didn't have any trouble around curves with those???
@modelrailroadingthesouthwest5 ай бұрын
I have not. I have heard other modelers having issues on curves with derailing issues. I do believe the issues are from these cars being underweight and the wheels aren’t so free rolling. I think adding another ounce or two of weight would help them.

is there a way to add weight ?
@modelrailroadingthesouthwest5 ай бұрын
I have not tried to do so yet. I am almost certain that you can easily remove the shell from the frame. Then you can add some stick on tire weights from an auto parts store or harbor freight and bring it up the NMRA specs or a little heavier. This is what I use to add weight in cars. www.harborfreight.com/1-4-quarter-oz-wheel-weights-67225.html www.harborfreight.com/1-2-half-oz-wheel-weights-67226.html

To bad those cost fortune here in EU after shipping and import tax it is just about double price.
@modelrailroadingthesouthwest5 ай бұрын
I can imagine the cost. Too bad you all don’t have retailers to get stuff over there.
@veliborvrhovac95 ай бұрын
@@modelrailroadingthesouthwest we have very few retailers but usualy price is even higher if yu buy from retailer for example i ordered ES44AC BNSF 6111 direct from ScaletrainTrains it costed me 453 euro about 495 usd. with shipping and import tax retailers here have usualy about 20% on top of that
