Thanks Deano, and yeah, when Scaletrains announced this midway through last year, it was definitely on my radar, glad I was able to grab one before they sold out. Athearn offered a 57' mechanical reefer with sound in its Genesis line in the past, but the Scaletrains Trinity reefer is the first to have both sound and light features! Thanks for watching!

Nice review and great boxcar. Very shocking how much bigger it was than the others. Is that the same in reality?
@randallellison64216 ай бұрын
Thanks Anthony and yes it is! The Trinity 7883 cuft reefer is a much larger car than its counterparts! I do find it interesting that it's a BNSF only prototype as far as I know, hence the reason Scaletrains offered only 1 road name. Thanks for watching!

How does it do on corners? I just got this reefer and as always with Scale Trains, I love the details and looks of the car. I don't have the sound version, but it also doesn't run very smooth. My layout's tightest curve is about 29", but the car derailed in the curve. Further investigation saw that the trucks rub against the under body. It worked when going handbrake first, but not the other way around.
@randallellison64216 ай бұрын
If 29 inch curves are your tightest curves, you should have no issues with this car as the recommended minimum radius is 24 inch curves if I remember correctly. But that's interesting the trucks rub against the underbody one way, but not the other. I tried mine on 22 inch curves and it did seem to negotiate those curves but I'm pretty hesitant to full on run the car through that tight of a curve. Your best bet would be to contact Scaletrains and ask them about that problem with your model and see what they say, it could also be an issue with some of the brake rigging that runs underneath the car and preventing the truck from swiveling correctly. Mine also doesn't roll that smoothly either, I figure this is because of the electrical pickups built into the trucks causing that as they generally create more drag, thanks for watching!

Those black things are the bad order board. Car inspectors would tack bad order tags so they could get fixed at the rip track.

does this run on 18” radius curves?
@randallellison64212 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, no. Minimum recommended radius is 24 inches, although, it's possible it can make 22 inch curves. Thanks for watching.
