I scalp, and depending on the volume determines my time frame. Once I use the daily, 1 hour and 15 minute charts looking for S/R, to write down my thesis, then I typically use a 1 and 5 minute chart pre-market, but also use a 233 tick looking for the pull backs. Once market opens, I change my 5 minute to a 3 minute because the volume is typically higher and I need to see a shorter time frame.

I would like a video about when to get out of trades. Especially when in profit. I feel like videos like that are missing on KZbin. Most videos are about risk management (so stop loss) and how to get into trades.

@Josh-Jones Жыл бұрын
I think you left out the actual most important criteria for scalping a stock: a tight spread. Usually a stock that has high volume, like you recommend, will also have a tight spread, but this is not necessarily the case. The cost of getting into and out of the trade is so critical when taking small profits and losses that a wide spread immediately disqualifies scalping.
@caughtinthevoidfloyd5821 Жыл бұрын
By spreading do you mean proce fluctuations?
@Josh-Jones Жыл бұрын
@@caughtinthevoidfloyd5821 No, I'm referring to the lowest ask (offer) minus the highest bid. This is called the spread. It's the amount you would lose if you bought at the lowest offer and then immediately sold to close at the highest bid. Think of it as the cost of taking the trade. So, you want this to be small so that it will not outweigh your small profits. Said another way, you have to make at least the spread to break even. It's why a tight spread on a stock like AAPL is ideal.

I love this channel. Shay is probably my favorite trader. I’m committed to making the plunge into day trading but I’m hesitant because of the 2-3 year learning curve that all the successful traders are saying is unavoidable. Are they saying this to impress upon folks that trading is tough? Or is it absolutely true? Have any of you reading this become profitable in quicker time frame?

Thank you for the video. Awesome job! Can you please emphasis more on how you select resistance prices on the daily chart? You seem to rely on those prices as target buys or sells.

So funny..I watched this on thur 06-08-23. I then watched CVNA on fri 06-09-23. THE EXACT downtrend under VWAP repeated itself as in the video. Because I watched this video I was able to enter correctly and short it. It literally downtrended all day and I was able to buy to cover right after close when it dropped again in after hours. I made a handsome profit. THANKS SHAY!!!!

Scalping works well with 300% leveraged ETFs like UPRO and SPXU which follow the S&P500. Then you don't need to jump around to different stocks. If you think the momentum is bullish, you scalp trade on UPRO. If you think the momentum is bearish, you scalp trade on SPXU, which is the 300% short ETF. However, Canadians will need to convert to USD, as there is no Canadian ETF equivalent.

A volume moving average is silly, due to the predictable volume "smile" everyday. What you should use instead is an average of volume for that bar at that time of day over the last X number of days.

I’m compiling and picking stocks that I’d love to hold on to for a few years before retirement, do you think these stocks would do better over the years? I’d love to retire with at least $2million savings. Now you gotta rely on a pretty good diversification if you must stay green. Currently up 31% and being cautious. Still better deal than letting it sit in savings or checking earning near 5% interest

In this bullish market, short scalping has been complicated. Especially when I could have bought SPXL AT $70 and just held it like I did in 2021. Of course, in 2022 I lost big holding for a long time. I only trade 3X ETFs, bull and bear. I think you mentioned that this works when the market is choppy. So, my question is: Is scalping needed in a bullish market?
