@@Caputosgarage Get a coolant pressure tester. Drain the oil, remove the oil cooler assembly leaving the coolant hoses connected to the cooler itself and put pressure in the cooling system. See if it leaks out the cooler or comes out the oil pan with the drain plug left out to eliminate the cooler being an issue water pumps normally fail and leak through a weep hole on the side of the block.

Yeah I agree & on older cars, this works perfect to test the trans fluid. Drive the car for at least 15-20 minutes to warm up, enough for everything to mix up then check all fluids again.

The 3.0 were known to have issues with the block and gasket mating surfaces. Nissan was replacing the engine blocks and turbos on q50s with this issue within warranty.

It’s the porus block issues. Coolant leaked through the block and evaporates. It’s not because of the gasket or surface. I know I’ve had it done to mines and the dealer I used to work for. But you are right mines was replaced under warranty turbos and long block.

Wrong. Head gaskets only give on these motors when overboosted. These motors are known for bad serpentines. There’s no such thing as a “porous block” on any internal combustion engine ever made

I don’t know who came up with that idea, but a block couldn’t be made out of porcelain, but it doesn’t even hold any degree of common sense because porcelain is a water resistant material. But those motors are known for sucking, coolant into the block though🤷♂️

I take these motors apart weekly. It is not easy just changing the head gaskets. You have to pull the engine out to even work on it as it is tight qiarters in rhe engine bay

In bay head gasket change can be done on these vehicles. Anybody that wants to pull the motor for a head gasket wants to charge more labor. Pulling the motor on these cars isn’t difficult. It’s just an extra labor charge to the customer

p0011/p0021 was a very common N/A VQ issue lol The galley gaskets were made out of paper (not kidding) and would bleed oil pressure.

Always gotta check obd before purchase. Years ago, I was checking out an old Maxima, ran fine for the most part, the seller was super chill. No CEL at all. So I ask if I can scan the car, dude gets nervous, but says go ahead. Hook up my lil $30 scanner and boom, a couple of codes popped up that were stored in the computer. He just had the light reset so the CEL wasn't illuminated, but the cpu still stored the faults.

To confirm it’s a head gasket take out the spark plugs first and inspect the inside of the engine cylinders and see if it’s clean. Another way coolant can leak into oil is removing the valve covers. There are small plugs, 3 per valve cover I believe. These can leak into the head. Considering how brown the oil was, the leak was minimal. Most likely it’s these screw plugs. If you respond to this comment I can find the video and give you the part number later.

The goal here is to NOT lose a lot of money on it. You can't drive that car in limp mode as is. You're better than that. You deserve to drive this car as it was intended to be driven. Usually those codes are for the gallery gaskets and need replacing, also if the oil is chocolaty it might not be the head gaskets and can be the water pump is bad, when they leak water runs down into the oil pan.

@@BADMAN-SJ true, but both of the codes to pop on and cause a limp mode, could still mean he's losing oil pressure somewhere (the original problem in G37/G35 VQs). he could also be correct that the viscosity of oil isn't good enough if it's mixed with coolant. i'd get a coolant pressure tester and confirm, as well as oil pressure gauge.

Had the same issue on my g37x car only rev up to 3k rpms had to change my gallery gasket to metal and add torque screws so I ended up changing my water pump VVT solenoids, camshaft sensors and crankshaft sensor and timing chain and guide rods and tensioners also did my valve cover gasket too

The same exact thing happened to me. I’m pretty sure on the exact same day. I live in the area. My issue was over fill. Same symptoms no CEL. I ran a scan immediately and got the pending timing codes. 2016 - 2018s notorious for porous block.

Not always head gaskets in ford because they put the water pump inside the engine connecting to the timing chain. When it fails it’ll have the oil looking like that as well.

always check to see how many miles it drove after the last CEL was cleared. i bet you they reset it right as they changed the oil/before sale. p0011/p0021- was a very common issues with the G37/G35/Q50s VQs, but yours is a different engine. I'd still check the oil pressure if you can to rule this out. Get a coolant pressure tester and pump it up to see if it's losing it.

Or you can do a cylinder leak down test to verify if the heads are ok . If they are I’d start looking at the seals under your valve cover . Worth a shot!

Still baffles me that people are ok doing this to others. Knowing the problem, the least they could have done was be honest with you and sell to Carmax. Personally I could never screw someone over like this, so it bothers me to see/hear stories like this. I definitly scanned the code originally and it was just previously deleted , car ran flawlessly so I didn’t worry about it . Can’t afford a fancy scan tool at the moment so I just used a basic obd to read current codes and there were none . You kind of seem like an asshole though

I got a 2011 loaded Subaru legacy in mint condition 1 week later the trans started to kick hard due to a valve solenoid and who knows it could be the transmission it self , the car had a lot of new parts so as soon as the problem happened I knew why he sold it to me cheep so I sold it with 400 dollars loss but I put the photo of the code on the facebook ad as am not a scammer

If you’re gonna keep it for a little while, try that head gasket sealant, you put into your coolant. It’s an inexpensive bandaid fix, but should last a few months, up to a yr. Just so you can at least use the car as your daily for a bit. Used it before on a small head gasket leak, it works for a while. Remember though, it’s not a permanent repair

I have loved all my Infinit cars 35 coup 2009 over 200k no problem 2015 q50 3.7 awd over 250k all original but shocks no problems now I have a 2011 m37x 3.7 167k done rad and thermostat no problem preventive maintenance and quality wise interior and just build quality my favorite moral of the story stick with the 3.7 in these

Since you invested so much money on the buy. I would just swap the motor vs changing or getting the head gasket fixed. Just swap motor. It could have porus block. You’ll think its head gasket but if coolant mix with oil. I think it’s porus block. Look into porus block. You’re clearly loosing coolant bro. And it’s leaking internally in the engine. Which makes the oil so milky. Nissan/infiniti don’t even have a solution to the fix. Coolant will leak into the block and your heat won’t work and mixes with oil.

You said the q50 had no mechanical issues other than cosmetics. Have you researched the 3.0 q50's. They have horrible turbo failure still not fixed.

Infiniti fixed the turbo issue for the 2018 and up q50. They had bad turbos on the 2016s and 17s. The only issue they have right now is the serpentine belt jumps out of place, but that's only when you're pushing the car by racing the shit of it. These cars are not race cars. I have a 2019 q50 and it's running great.. I do my oil changes every 3k miles and installed a oil catch can.

What puzzles me is why you didn’t do research. You should’ve never eaten. Tried to purchase one of these dude. That 3.0 TT engine is garbage. You’re lucky the transmission wasn’t crap but they are horribly unreliable. They only kept the 3.7 until 2015. Then they abandoned it forthat engine and the hybrid. The eight cylinder ones are very very hard to find and they are upwards of 20 grand so people can’t flip that. But these are garbage. Sad for you and I hope you can sell it for parts, but that engine is toast.

Oil coolers usually vice versa. You’ll get oil into the coolant reservoir. And you’d be overheating since the oil isn’t good at being coolant
