Years ago I had gotten one on my email. I did not call the number they give you to call if you did not make the purchase. What I did was get the real AMAZON's number and they verified it was not charged to my account. So check with your bank or the store, where ever they say you purchased something you know you didn't and call the direct number to them, not the one they tell you to call.

Just got a call from Southern California Edison (I live in NorCal). He told me I owed $371.24 and if I didn’t pay by phone in the next 20 minutes, my power would be turned off, and it would take another $250 for reconnect fee. I told him I would gladly pay the whole thing. Including the $250. In 20 minutes. When my power went out. So he agreed to wait with me. While waiting, I started singing... IF you want my money AND you think I’m stupid, Go ahead and wait and see If you’re such an idiot JUST sit there and listen, You won’t ge a cent from me... He hung up. The FBI handles scammers all the time. I started receiving emails from a scammer claiming to be with the Treasury Dept. So I forwarded it to the real FBI (you can get that info on their website). Within about six months I got a letter from them stating the guy had been arrested. They sent out hundreds of the same letter to anyone who had received his scam emails. The letter contained case number, the guys name, etc. I was able to verify all of it. My point is that the government does help with scammers, but they can only handle so much.

Thank you for all you guys do to shut these scammers down. I'm sure you have saved many much heartache & stress. To me, the lowest of the low are the ones who troll kids in chat rooms. There was a boy (Ithink about 16) here in Mississippi who thought he was talking to a 14 yo girl. These douche bags got him to take pics and send them to "the girl". They then tried to blackmail the boy. He told them he had no money, couldn't pay and they said they were going to post them all over the web, send them to his parents, school etc. The boy begged them not to and told them if they did, he would kill himself. The monster's reply to that was, "Go ahead, your life is already over." Thinking it was real, and not able to pay, he took his own life. I wish I could have 5 minutes with these soulless dregs of humanity ...

Hate to say this as it sounds a bit callous but when a so-called "14-year-old Girl" asks you to send pics (probably nude ones of you) to her, that should be a red flag immediately that this person isn't what "she" appears. Plus, the "boy" was 16-years-old and should have known better than to send any pics to someone whom they have zero idea who they are. Also, the "14-year-old" could've been Law Enforcement looking to catch online Predators (Sting operation) as well. Of course, screw the scammers who did this but at the end of the day, he would still be alive if he would've thought with his head (the one on top of his neck) instead of his you-know-what.

@@oel734 Yes, that is callous. If you were talking about an adult, I'd whole-heartedly agree, but a teenager who is more than likely insecure, hormonal and maybe naive? Honestly, did you never make questionable decisions as a teen? Smoked, drank, or did something you didn't think about the consequences until after the fact? I know there are some that I made that in retrospect, could have been better. Even if 'they should know better' many do not. They haven't been around long enough to have life experience. They might not have been raised well. Sometimes kids don't listen to parents and often think bad things won't happen to them- until it does.

Keep up the great work. I've actually seen comments defending these predators. Saying things like they have no other options, or are forced to do it, or need to feed their families etc etc etc. My Father died when I was quite young and money was scarce. So my Mother worked 2 jobs, and as soon as I was of age I got a paper route, and my sister would babysit for money. So I have no pity on these scammers.

Just a thought...You can't compare lives especially if those lives are in different countries, different cultures, had different influences and were different from your personal trials. It may not be as easy to do these things as it was for you. I know many people that think their own experiences = everyone elses and that is not true. I had an argument with someone who was doing this and saying "I never went on food stamps because people who do are leeches" and I don't understand that mentality...it's like blatant disregard for what other people go through.
