@isaacisgamer3951 No? They were there telling the people they are being scammed and not asking for any money or any information. How could they possibly be scammers if they're sitting there telling you don't give any money or info to anyone
@kat.w.RBF4445 ай бұрын
Exactly. I wish that the victims who approach Trilogy Media’s advice and help with such caution and suspicion would’ve use the same caution when some stranger on the phone asked for all of this personal information and accessed their bank online. I get the feeling the couple may not speak English as a first language or understand computers really well-definitely not blaming them for that. But it’s like they just dropped their guard on the phone if the person “sounds” official or the scammers panic them about their computer or bank, but if someone shows up to your house who is not asking for any money and is trying to save you from giving your personal information and access to your computer to a bunch of scammers, suddenly you’re very suspicious of that. It’s especially true with older people- like they approach this with such caution when someone rings their doorbell trying to warn them of a problem, people who want no money, nothing but to keep you from losing your life’s savings. Even the neighbor was grilling Ashton. How about be cautious with everything then, if you’re going to be worried about people with clearly good intentions? Please, everyone, tell your elderly family, friends, neighbors…don’t give out anything over the phone unless you’re 1000% sure they’re a rep if your bank, investment firm, etc. And if you aren’t sure, hang up. If it’s that serious, you can verify it independently of what a rando on the phone is telling you or pretending to know.

It exposes that *these* scammers rely on google ads to acquire victims. Google is straight up destroying lives because they are too greedy to have *ANY* restrictions or verifications on ads. Even the most basic of safeguards would catch this. So, they have a very good reason for this to disappear. More of a reason than most videos for advertiser friendly BS. This is going after their bottom line directly. That scam money keeps the lights on and those lucrative bonuses! Who cares that Nancy just lost her life savings and house? Sundar needs a new yacht! "your bank leaked the info, LIKE BofA earlier this year"... or whatever other leak was being reported in media at the time. Scammers will use any tool given them, and media is a good source of scare tactics. Realizing that it's low to do so means you have something no scammer has... empthy, compassion, whatever you call it.. morals, decent upbringing, again, call it what you will. Scammers can speak and scam in many languages, but unlike you, me and any other decent person, giving a flying fu-- isn't one of them.

This may sound bad, but it's actually something I have seen work very well in situations that are somewhat similar. If you bring a woman with you when you show up unexpectedly to help scam victims and let her talk with them first, they tend to be less suspicious, "intimidated" and more willing to listen to you, and understand that you are the good guys. I am a woman who has worked in many different security and prison settings, and people let their guard down more easily when a woman confronts them. If several strange men just showed up at your doorstep, you would possibly be scared too, and slam the door in their faces.

As someone who works with credit card fraud, thank you for telling these people to block their accounts and freeze their credit bureaus... It's so appreciated.

You guys need to work on how you approach strangers. The panic in your voice, the urgency, and the persistence is perceived as untrustworthy. Approach calmly, ask how they are, introduce yourself, and then explain. Give them an info packet. Don't offer resources, give them. Then follow up with mailing them more information periodically. A simple "how to recognize scams" in different languages is so useful. Also a "what to do if you've been scammed" Just calm down PLEASE it is not helping

If you would aproach my old ma with the behavior you just told she would later tell "they had to be scammers,daily stealing, icecold and not one drop of sweat" 😄 I know what you mean but don't forget dealing with older people can be challenging. And on top they both have a lot of passion for what they do, safing as many as possible and maybe that looks like what you see as "Panic/Urgent"...

@@Itsa-Mess I work in social services with adults of all ages. I have done many door knocks for people I've never met. Usually the calmer and more compassionate I am, the less likely they are to think I'm suspicious. Urgency and panic is the worst thing you can do. You can see how confused these people are and they really don't want to collaborate at first.

@@lordfumblesquid then you have a lot more experience, maybe they read comments and take notes. I really just wanted to share how I saw it. When you do so much in so many different fields you can't be great 100% in every level you work in. Maybe it's better to have a "first contact handler", so the passion/panic can't kick in or so... I like them and their work is so important! I'm not even in the USA, I'm german and even here it's bad with scams. Two houses away from mine lives a old man, 93 years old. He owns a lot of houses in our city and everybody knew it. He lost 400000€ because two men came to his door, told they're from the police and that they had to make sure that his money is real/not fake. So he gave everything he had laying around at home. Gave it all away... Scams are disgusting, protect your elders, sadly it's happening less these days...

If all these big tech companies come together they can come up with a solution just stop the scammers and hopefully seek Justice for the victims.

Microsoft could solve this if they wanted, but they focus on selling…
