Let's face it! Housing reforms in relation to the time it takes to get building approvals should have been sorted 30 years ago. Both sides of government and councils in particular, have failed the builder's and home owners costing time and money. Councils don't care how long it takes for approvals or how much it is costing the consumer whilst waiting for approvals. There should be a time limit on building approvals and councils should be fined for everyday over. Much like building contractors for failing to complete a building on time as per the building contract.

Councils do a lot more than that. Think of their planning of new subdivisions, water catchment areas so nobody gets flooded, tree planting in these areas, etc. I actually like their roll in checking and approving developers’ proposals and taking fees to pay for open spaces, extra drainage, etc. Not all developers are nice guys, some are downright shonky and don’t care about the purchaser or the environment. They pass on the fees to the purchaser anyway.

It is certainly true that nuclear is cheaper in the long run especially with nuclear fuel rods being 80% recyclable however it is far more expensive to build. While renewables like wind and solar are cheaper at first but more expensive with maintenance and labor costs in the long run.
