9040 driver here. None of the models in game (aside from the LVKV) can “lock on” to air targets. Yes, they can lase the target two times while tracking it manually and the computer will apply the lead. The gunner still needs to track the target manually and the target has to be moving at a constant speed and direction. Otherwise the calculated lead needs to be recalculated.

thats how many rounds it has irl too. its just that its supposed to replenish faster than the bofors is able to shoot so you shouldnt need to wait for replenishment at all. its a shame that they only prioritize russian vehicles

But the thing is that the CV9040 has a quick-change magazine which sits below the gun breech, this magazine has 3 chambers in which 8 rounds fit each, the magazine can be pushed left and right under the gun to change the ammunition. Here you can switch between 3P ammunition, APFSDS-T, TPDS-T and TP-T, the „T“ stands for Tracer And all the ammunition is from the first and second generation of the CV9040, i.e. A and B ... my favorit is the Bofors 3P ammunition 💀... But we have only one in WarThunder

Anyone else gone back a few BR recently and had a good time? I haven't played 11.7 in a week or so and went back to my 8.0 Line Up. Marder 1A3, M48A2 C, Leopard 1 and Wiesel and have been having a blast and (don't tell Gaijin) got tons of down tiers. Adding any 8.3 causes non-stop up tiers. Anyway a friendly tip, 8.0 is a good time right now! I can only imagine the hell that awaits me my next couple 11.7 matches as my reflexes will have been dumbed down but perhaps my nerves will be less frayed.

4:20 the radar lvkv cannot radar lock targets more than 9km away. even if it does with beyond sight radar lock, it cant do anything.

thats because it is not a track radar, its a search only radar, it uses optical tracking (irst), which is limited to 9km ingame

@@Ghent_Halcyon They don’t. At least not the 40mm ones. Source? I’m a CV9040 driver in the Swedish army. The way that sight works in all but the newest D variant is as follows. The gunner lases the target once, waits a second or two, then does it again while manually tracking the target. The computer uses those two measurements to calculate the targets speed and heading and apply appropriate lead to the gun. The gunner still has to manually keep the crosshairs on the target though. So no auto rotation like other SPAAs in game. Also, if the target makes any kind of change in speed or direction, that lead calculation is worthless and needs to be redone. It’s only really meant to hit helicopters or attackers heading straight for you. The newer D variant (not in game right now) does however have tracking that’s somewhat similar to what we see in game.
