I purchased my machine a few years back and have hardly used it despite having numerous lessons. I think I should have saved my money on the lessons and just watched your tutorials as they are far more informative and clearly demonstrate on how to use the scan and cut. Being in lockdown has given me the desire to pull out my scan and cut and try and make some fabric postcards. Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial, I can't wait to get started and I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to making full use of this excellent machine.

This is the best “how to start” video ever. It was soooo hard to try to figure out how to use this machine at first and again because I don’t use it often enough to retain the lessons learned so I just quit using it, maybe now I can give it another try. THANK YOU

Just got my scan and cut and the blade that came with mine is black top and doesn't have that spin thing where you can change the number? Do I need to purchase more blades? Thanks for the tip about unsticking the mat. I'm having a hard time with the standard mat and regular copy paper trying to cut die cuts printables. I got the scan and cut SDX85

Is there a print out somewhere that tell us which number to choose for CUT SPEED-PRESSURE and Draw Speed ,Pressue. when cutting vinyl, fabric, cardstock , leather etc...was wondering if this would cut through an auluminum can. my friend uses pop can and she has a hand held butterfly punch.

I have a question. My vinyl backing stuck to my mat so bad I had to really scrap to get it off. Any suggestions on how to prevent that?

Still trying to cut fabric I back with Thermoweb adhesive sheets. Trying to cut Kona cotton about 1-inch by 2.5-inch. I’m never successful.

I’ve searched KZbin and Pinterest and google for the answer to my question: if I Stamp an image on color cardstock or lightly patterned cardstock, will the SnC recognize the stamped image edge and cut it? Thank you.

I have had mine for about 2 years or so and almost NEVER use it. one of my biggest things is that i get images that have a colored background and multiple images on the page that I want to cut out (colored images) but am afraid that the machine will not be able to differentiate the background from the images (i have not even tried it yet so have NO clue)... just scared....... it all seems so very overwhelming to me.

heidi lil just try it. I did and it was pretty easy and amazing. Watch Julie’s videos and there are others too . Watch, try it and adjust as needed. Do a scrap piece first.

I've cut through mats too. If you don't have a DX machine, you need to adjust your blade. Watch my videos on adjusting your blade.

Please please can you help me I have written to scan and cut and also where I purchased my cm900 and no one helps! I have followed you step by step but every time I do the test cut it cuts through my whole sheet to get to the test cut ... every time .. I’ve also raised blade and still cuts through until it just leaves a score.... I can’t use it as it has already cut through paper so my design would be in half... please help me ( it is my first cut as brand new machine) xx

Jacqui: I'm sorry that you're struggling, but it's impossible for me to diagnose what's happening through the internet. I don't understand. Are you cutting through the mat? Is the blade dragging? Are you starting at a 1? Have you changed your pressure? What material are you cutting? Which blade are you using? Etc. There are so many different factors here. I recommend calling Brother Customer Service on the phone and/or finding a local in-person class you can attend. If you bought your machine from a store, you should be able to go there and have them demo it for you.

Balzer Designs I purchased it off create and craft and they told me to get In ouch with brother and gave me a number and it doesn’t work. I followed the star vid that you did... Blue blade pressure etc as you said and it scratches the mat before it gets on the paper and when I went to do the test cut as you suggested ... the blade does t seem to lift at all it just scratches mat then hits paper and cuts all the way down till it gets to the test cut square and the cuts that out and the blade still does t lift it just cuts that mat

Balzer Designs sorry material was thin a4 Card... I followed what you did to the T but didn’t cut the stars out in the end as it cut my paper .

Jacqui: It shouldn't drag across the mat before it even reaches the paper. Try updating the firmware and see if that helps with the problem. You can watch my video on how to do that.
