Scapular Assistance Test [for winging scapula]

👉The Scapular Assistance Test [for winging scapula] is a test I use quite often to help determine if the glenohumeral joint is not functioning well as a result of scapular winging or scapular dyskinesis.
Here's how it goes...
✅ Ask the patient to flex the shoulder.
✅ Observe the motion for loss of motion or weakness.
✅ Start over but now place use your hands to keep the medial scapular boarder in place and help (assist) the lateral and upward rotation of the scapula.
✅ Now...Ask the patient how that felt.
✅ If they report it was "easier" or they felt "stronger" and you the provider notices improved quality of motion, then the test is POSITIVE.

Hello thank you for the videos, my question is, while you did the test you helped move the scapula, correct? However, rigid tape will keep the scapule in place, thus not allowing enough motion while moving.. could you briefly explain the mechanics?
