236 years wow but what a fun event and such a positive for Scarborough. What has taken them so long to bring it back and well done for the team that did! The mural is amazing, I do think great street art is a positive for towns. Love the giggles from the crowd for the balloon man. Art installations in windows are also so simple but so positive. What a wonderful event.

thank you Nettie. I do think working with landlords and building owners is something Scarborough could be doing better. art installations in empty shop windows is a vast improvement to row after row of boarded up shops. we seem to be light years away from other towns and cities in that regard.

What a fabulous Fair. I so enjoyed everything. Can't name them all but some that stuck, the choir, Gollum, definitely the Balloon Man and many many more. I also loved the wall mural. Amazing. Hope this has a repeat next year. Fabulous gathering of fun stuff. Of the two ladies and their "shaking bootie" hahaha! The bird people. Oh this was awesome. What I also thought was good how much was spread out with an eclectic mix of fun activities for people to see and join in with. It’s such a welcome relief Alan. Genuinely do get excited by any positivity we can bring to our failing high streets. This was awesome. Will it be enough? Sadly, probably not, but I LOVE and I mean that a million % that people are trying and not just giving up. We had an awesome time at this event, the acts were all engaging and I felt like a child again watching them. A thing of wonder. That being said some numbskull timed the event to increase parking charges 20% in the town centre. You can’t make it up. Id like to meet that idiot in any alley anytime soon..

But putting up parking charges by 20% when most other councils have cottoned on that you have to incentivise driving to a town centre during this horrible time of retail decline is a no brainer. Id accept charging more to visit the sea front as people have been wanting to do that for almost 300 years. But to charge people to see empty, boarded up shops? I want to meet that guy..

Was a great event Anna. The 20 million high street fund has been given to failing Councils at their own discretion to see fit how to regenerate the dying retail sector. Bringing back the Scarborough Fair? I have to admit it’s possibly genius. I hope it works. It might bring back footfall and it might get some of those shops reopened. Crazier things have happened..

Great initiative by Scarborough, I had no idea the song was so old! Considering there has been no Scarborough Fair for 236 years! I also now have the song stuck in my head, I can still confidently sing a couple of verses thanks to high school music teachers who had it on high rotation for us choir students to sing in harmony😒

Scarborough fair interesting glad it's back . Even bumped into Aunt Bessie 🤣 Hope they fill the petition to use the building. Some funny outfits cool boat 🚢 and shows outside weatherspoons & in the town . Balloon man was good 👍 Nice artwork in the windows definitely a good use of space. Great news they're bringing back some culture! And nice to see you had some sun! thanks so much Matt 🙏 it would make a huge difference to that stretch of town. the Council has been mulling over ideas for that block for almost 25 years without doing anything. hopefully this will give them the kick they need! those pigeons were pretty scary, they approach very quickly. I’m glad the ones on my fire escape aren’t that big they would bring the building down! 👍

Looks like a great event, I haven't seen much pre-event advertising for it though, perhaps they targeted it to North Yorkshire areas only. Definitely something that should become and annual event. Great coverage too!

thanks Andy, it was a really great event, badly advertised though. I got the impression that most people going about there day to day business in the town saw it more of an inconvenience than something wonderful to enjoy. we definitely need more though 👍

Great architecture as you walk to the fair. I thought Punch and Judy was politically incorrect these days. Some people go to so much trouble, they look awesome. We thoroughly enjoyed watching all the characters and the entertainment. Glad you have this fair back. Definitely a thumbs up for the community.

have to admit I was surprised to see Punch & Judy make an appearance, worse still the act didn’t seem to have been brought in line with the times. I’m not sure how those kids will grow up watching that! 😂😂

i feel like one of the first vids of yours i watched was in scarborough, so this oddly feels like an anniversary of sort even though this episode is for a totally different reason. i sang then, and since the fair is back 🎶parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme🎶(i sang first during this! 😝) i hope the petition gets its signatures. ok, real talk, esther puppet creeped me out a bit. 👀 looks like people were really having fun with costumes/masks/props. i liked balloon guys striped outfit, i think you two should think about that kit. his whole bit was really funny. found myself singing along to daydream believer and apparently writing the longest comment ever. 🫠 turns out i didn't know what to expect for this event. 😂so fun! i hope you return next year. 🛴❤
