How do you retrieve the boat in very rough weather?
@AR1G36 жыл бұрын
My guess: same way as here. Once the boat is beached it's past the point where the waves would break, and since it looks like no one has to go down in the water to hitch the winch up, risk for the crew would be relatively low.
@jockwood23986 жыл бұрын
During the very worst weather the water will be breaking over the wall at the top of the beach and the harbour can't be entered with high breaking seas, in these situations the boat berths down at Filey until it can be recovered or the next shout!

wouldnt it be better to submerge the trailer and the boat just drives on
@danielrose13926 жыл бұрын
Try to submerge the trailer in huge waves. This technology is built to work in the worse weather.
@ozzy24265 жыл бұрын
kev dewsnip no it wouldn't as they have to line up two points one is under the boat going from bow to stern there is a what you could say is the spine so to speak that must be 100% lined up to the recessed guide channel in the centre of the trailer this can only be done on land so you can see perfectly where they both are to each other as under water you will never see it and if its not lined up perfectly then there is going to be a 2million pound oops with a big oh fuck on the end as it would topple off the side of the trailer and get badly damaged

The helm is in the seat forrard on the port side. From there he wouldn't be able to see the launch and recovery vehicle as he got close to it. Drive it onto the beach (which is what a Shannon is designed to do) and you can line the launch and recovery vehicle up with the prow of the boat very accurately.

So? So? They're volunteers doing something useful when they could be somewhere else earning money. Selflessly helping the community. Got that?

In bad weather it's recovered with balls of steel. Or they berth in sheltered harbour and recover later.
@danielrose13926 жыл бұрын
In bad weather you increase the speed to skid further up the beach.
@ozzy24265 жыл бұрын
if safe enough in scarborough they will dock in the harbour if its high tide as there next to no beach at high tide or if the weather is too sever they dock at the closest safe harbour and bring the boat back when the sea is calmer

@@CymruEmergencyResponder its the immigrant thing.. i think. although if i was on a rescue service i dont think id care about what country the drowning man is from. but apparently saving lives is less important to the person who made this stupid comment.
