Hi Colin and Tim Well what a shame, such a lovely day and nice settings only to be let down by the Fish and Chips. Well i called in an expert on this (my daughter) she worked her way through Uni by working in a chip shop. As soon as i showed her your vlog she said "dirty oil' Colin you were bang on, she says at the rate they fry the oil will need filtering every other day, and in busy times every day. Fish 'n chips tips: only go at traditional meal times. If there's no queue, walk away. The takeaway is usually better than the eat-in option, unless it's eat-in only.

Sorry but after reading more comments, the chips are par fried first then put back in to give them their colour, not dirty oil, but if it is, they're delicious, and taste even better the next day reheated in an air fryer for chip butties

If you happen to go to Scarborough again Lad's go to the Leeds further up the hill from the lifeboat they are the best in Scarborough in my eyes give them ago and find out for yourselves

Hi boys! The Lifeboat is the only fish & chip restaurants we've visited recently in Scarborough but Alan commented that North Bay fish & chips are the best in town, and Peter recommends Winking Willie's ❤️

Best Takeaway Fish & Chips in Scarborough, not eaten in so can't comment. We live here and go every week until the season kicked in big style i.e. today, I thought the quality might suffer as it got busier, but they still are frying the chips in small batches after par frying them, the colour is what chips used to look like before the bland ones took over, can't fault it, while this is your opinion, which we hopefully still have a right to, I have to disagree with the hope of not being cancelled lol

The chips we had were definitely nasty and a couple of trained fish fryers have said that it looked like the oil needed changing But we're delighted that you regularly have a great experience there and, as you say, The Lifeboat is rated #1 in Scarborough on TripAdvisor. We've only been there once and we may have caught them on an off day so it is fantastic that you , as a regular customer, have shared your opinion too. Thank you very much ❤️😀🌞

Just watched someone else's attempt to visit the Lifeboat chippy. Only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. He was there during the week. By the Curb's James and Helen went last year and the food was excellent. My preference is The Golden Grid fish restaurant. Opened in 1954 and eat in only.

Oh dear that was dissapointing 😳 . I love Ben Shaws shandy . Although i think Bass shandy was better , it is no longer made now . I am suprised as haddock is usually more expensive than cod ? I thought the presentation was great though with newspaper on plate then fish n' chips . But i felt the dissapointment . Great review guys thanks for taking us along ❤️

That meal of Tim's looked like the fish & chips had been refried. The chips & the fish were plated before - they never got served or it was a mistake - so they've lying there. Then put in the fat to heat up. You can see that on the batter on the fish. Fresh batter goes into hot fat & it crisps up encasing the fish, trapping in the flavour. You said you weren't sure about the chips - they looked considerable over cooked - they've gone into the hot fat & heated them up, put too much colour in them & they've soaked up all the fat. My ex's mam & dad used to have their own chip shops. Food poisoning of fish is the worse thing & dangerous. Before you choose your chippy to buy from, hang fire & ask someone coming out what they thought of their meal. I'm a nightmare before I go in & would rather do without than eat what was put in front of Tim. 2** - was being generous to them. Thank you as always for your vlogs. They are great to watch your reviews, imagine being on a tight budget, you plan for fish & chips, or any food & you get served that? I'd be gutted. Tek care both.

Thanks iDavo. That's a good point about anyone in a limited budget forking out for a meal like that. Customers were queuing out the door for the takeaway and The Lifeboat was the top rated restaurant in town on TripAdvisor so we were confident that we were in for a treat. Neither of us took ill afterwards so that was a positive and the 2 stars 🤩 were for the waitresses, not the food 😁

Looked a bit of a disaster to me, possibly down to the oil they were cooked in😲.I always use the Leeds fisheries just up the hill😋.Cafe looked clean and fresh which is a plus but l wont be visiting any time soon.
