Most likely written by a foreigner mate or by an elitist who doesn't even know what a shovel looks like Scarborough looks amazing to me, and it is sad that the sea by the strand/beach is not safe to swim in. The peasants get find for dumping rubbish but big companies seem to get away with murder. I don't care with anyone says, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England have some of the best sites in the world which is why the tourists are mad to get into this country.

Inflation is killing businesses in this country and yet they keep flooding the country with illegal aliens and most of them are men with a not so bright past. These politicians are ruining our country, they don't care about the English anymore, it's an invisible foreign invasion and they're taking liberties now. The people need to stand up and get these rats out of parliament and take back the country before it's run into the ground. Inflation is getting worse and people can't afford to pay the sky high rents that are demanded from the landlords. We were told that infaltion went up because of Coved, but they're still putting up the prices every two weeks. It's all one giant scam as they try to collapse the paper money system as they want a digital currency. The reason they want it is because if you don't go along with this wicked government then they can shut your bank card down anytime as punishment.

I’m 64 and I spent my entire childhood having holidays at Scarborough. Peasholme park, the island tree walk, the outdoor pool, the the naval battles, sailing model yachts on the lake, the beach, fish and chips, ice cream in the harbour bar, Punch and Judy, walking along the front on evening strolls, the candy floss, the miniature railway., going to Scalby Mills to play bingo - wonderful happy family memories. In the last few years we’ve been to the open air theatre to see James, Elbow and more. Fabulous. It infuriates me that the press can try and destroy a place without even visiting. Shame on them.

Alas the press has been telling lies for decades and quite probably for ever. Many years ago in the late 80s I was a policewoman (yes back that I was a woman and in the police which = a policewoman, as opposed to a policeman ... I liked being called that too). Anyway back to what I was saying, I had to do a 14 hour hospital bed watch on a young victim who had been gravely injured in an awful attack. I was introduced to the hospital staff who would be looking after the patient during that night ( on shift change over I met the new staff). Nobody other than them were allowed into the room. The main reason I was there was to prevent the disgusting press from trying to get in to take their sordid little pictures and trying to talk to this young victim. The 'story' that was in the papers the next day were pure fabrication with not a shred of truth. They should be done for printing their despicable lies.

I've lived in Scarborough since 2014 and am still totally in love with the place. It's got a very chilled out relaxed atmosphere and whenever I have heard drunken rowdiness it always seems to be in good spirits, folk just blowing off steam and having a laugh. The south bay water quality badly needs sorting and the business rates are high for shop units making it tricky for independents, so there are a lot of empty shops, but mostly it's a great place to live!

I wonder if that can still be done today ? My son and I are looking to come down to Scarborough for a holiday early next year. Looking forward to it .In Scarborough , we even encountered the fantastic comedian Russ Abbott . My Dad recognised him and Russ Abbot was kind enough to stop for a quick chat with us. He was so lovely and down to earth . I was star struck ( not something I'd be with any of today's so called celebrities) and wish I'd have said more but at the time , all I managed was hello . I was a little shy back then. Not now though . I'd talk the ears off the poor chap now if I was fortunate enough to meet him again 😂. Unlikely though as he lives abroad now I recall reading somewhere years ago. Also I know he didn't stay in Scarborough . I don't know what he was doing there. Maybe he was just visiting or performing somewhere there. I honestly can't remember it was that long ago now.

It looks beautiful and charming to me. The architecture is awesome ! I try not to read reviews and make up my mind for myself. One can only hope everyone does the same and just goes to Scarborough and does the same. What a shame. Huge beach there ! ❤ 🙏

Really pleasantly surprised with Scarborough. Used to the South West, Devon, down South, thought we would see what the Northern seaside resorts had to offer. As stated, nothing at all the matter with 'Scarby', good assortment of restaurants on the front, best fish and chips ever tasted, plus the centre with the amusements has got that good old seaside feel which i havent experienced since i was a kid sixty years ago. Really good place. Highly recommended.

It's fast losing its appeal to our family for holidays. The North bay area is lovely but when you venture into the town on an evening there are lots of Romanian looking gentlemen hanging around the top of town drinking in public. Something that used to be banned until they showed up. The local paper reports that they occupy an entire court in the centre and have been responsible for fires from illegal cannabis grows. It's so sad no one is speaking up about what's happening to the locals, not just here but country wide

I love Scarborough and visited many times, over 30 years. My partner, his grandparents lived there. One of our favourite places. Always shed a little tear when leaving. Some nice places not too far away to visit, including Flamborough head, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay and Goathland- I love them all. Love your vlogs 🙂👍

Thank god for you and your channel James. You showed Scarborough to be the lovely seaside town in Yorkshire. The papers should be ashamed xx

Thanks for the video. I was born and raised in the north west and moved to West Yorkshire over 30 years ago and I regularly take a trip to Scarborough and all of the Yorkshire coast, I think it's wonderful...

I took the wife for a couple of days holiday earlier this year, to East Yorkshire. We stayed in Pickering, and visited Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Filey, Scarborough, Bridlington, and Beverly. Scarborough was by far the dirtiest, scruffiest, most run-down of them all. We would never go back, when there are so many much cleaner, much nicer, places in the area.

We go often for short breaks from Glossop in Derbyshire, on Bar Street after ten P.M. you do get the occasional person sleeping on a deep doorway in a sleeping beg with a rucksack pillow, very clean, no smell, but never seen more than three at one visit, one thing you notice is no police seen walking around until closing time. A great review thank you.

We went to Scarborough last year and did the park and ride into town. Apart from being drenched in a rain storm when we got off the bus we soon dried off in the clean orderly bustling shopping centre. After lunch we walked the length of the old town popped in a few independent little shops, made our way along the beach front up to the town hall buildings and back again. It was all perfectly fine and the locals were friendly and helpful.

Thanks James. I've lived in Scarborough since 1949.(I'll let you do the maths) and never tire of it. The view from the Esplanade down over the Spa. A wander around the harbour. Peasholm ( lovely Japanese garden on the top of the Island in the middle of the lake) where we used to go and watch the Naval warfare when I were a young un. Walk along the cliffs above Scalby Mills. It's a great place for all ages. Recently saw Tom Jones at the Open Air Theatre. Not one of his biggest fans until I saw him live that night. Brilliant voice. Saw Jake Bugg at the Spa. Another great night. There's something for everyone here but like every other town, village, City in the world, Scarborough has it's struggles but with the sea on one side and the North Yorkshire Moors on the other you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for this lovely look at Scarborough. I moved from the West Midlands to Scarborough around eight years ago and apart from marrying my wife and being a father to my wonderful kids it was the best decision I ever made. I absolutely adore this place. To my eye, whether it's gloriously sunny or a stormy winter's day, Scarborough is beautiful. A lot of what's wrong with Scarborough, and indeed a lot of other towns and cities in the UK is down to corruption and mismanagement in local council. The overnight motorhome ban is an absolute disgrace. God forbid that a seaside town might actually welcome a large group of tourists. There are a few miserable, sour faced local residents who seem to object to folks coming to spend a few days in our town. These are the same grouchy killjoys that complain about seagulls being on the coast.

Sorry, but I never felt in danger in Scarborough, and I have traveled there every year at least once for 20 years now. It is still worth going there, although it is true that lots of businesses are closed now. People drink everywhere in the UK, so don't blame Scarborough for that but only the British government. When I'm in Scarborough, sometimes I stay in a hotel, and sometimes I camp in a tent under the castle in a public place, but nobody attacks me ever.

Fabulous tour video James. The Grand Hotel prices must be quite expensive now. Nice pint of Guinness. I reckon Whitby is more famous than its neighbor Scarborough. What has happened to the Summer Weather. It feels like Autumn in the mornings.

Great film Have had some great holidays in Scarbados, two at Browns at Cayton Bay, best chippy was last on left before you start walking round the headland, the Golden Grid is a great eatery too. Used to go surfing there too, would always kip in my Reliant Robin van at North Bay 😂

I’ve had some lovely family holidays in Scarborough with my parents & sister staying in local caravan sites. Then as a single parent with my son in my parents caravan. We’d always finish the day off with buying freshly made sugar donuts to have back at the caravan with hot chocolate before bed. Wonderful memories from a lovely seaside resort. The journalist clearly has never set foot in Scarborough. As usual the media scaremongering the general public. Being a Yorkshire Lass I’m very angry at the journalists lies. Thank you, you’ve brought back so many lovely memories of my childhood holidays and holidays with my son. 😢😍

Go out at night. Especially in town centre, see how you fair. The tents have got better this year. You missed them. But they weren’t in the streets they were in the gardens around the front. Should of asked them who work the front

Just found your channel and this wonderful vlog ❤️ I'm a middle aged, born and bred West Yorks woman and I'm more than happy with my own company. I visit Scarborough 'solo' regularly in the summer (day trips or overnight stays) and there's no way I feel unsafe! Much like your example, I get my trainers and back pack on and sample all that the town and seafront has to offer including pub lunches and a pint or fish and chips outside. I do beach and some of the cliff top walks further out of the centre. And with it being Yorkshire there's always folk who say 'Ow do" and stop and chat for a bit. I can recommend all the North Yorks East Coast resorts for any solo traveller.

When I first visited in 1971, there were outdoor pools for swimming and water chutes at the north and south bays. Also, a marine park on the hillside near the sea life centre. I don't know whether the Mere on the town outskirts is still used for boating, but nice that Peasholm Park continues its naval show. The Stephen Joseph Theatre is renowned for quality shows. It is the base where Sir Alan Ayckbourn produced many of his celebrated 90 plays.
@paulstroud26473 ай бұрын
There isn't any boating at the Mere now, but the Hispaniola, which used sail there, now takes tourists round the bay from the harbour. Often dolphins and porpoises to see too, usually they pass closest to shore between the North and South bays by Marine Drive.
