Beary Boy but there's the convenience factor too. I allways want certain games so I plan to buy it when they're the cheapest, 90% cheaper on sales. I think it's kind of different, what steam uses is anticipation most of the time, we know they're gonna lower the prices and we're going to buy the games, so we ready our wallets for that moment

I would add that our attraction to scarcity is also because possession of difficult-to-obtain things conveys status to other people. It's why rich people spend money on expensive, useless items (like golden toilets). It's a message to everyone else that, "if I can afford to waste my money on this, I must have a lot more than you do."

You didn't talk about manufactured scarcity at all. Companies purposefully making less than they know is wanted. Nintendo does it nonstop, Magic the gathering. Actually, it's pointless to try listing the companies that do this, there are simply too many. Pay way more money for this product, because it makes you better than those that didn't get it. Great for people with money that want to feel like they're better, but it sucks for poor people like me that gets screwed because companies have found a way to artificially inflate prices way beyond what they are worth and what I can afford.

@hehehehe1112
@hehehehe1112 5 жыл бұрын
LS Bitcoin is an internet currency, which is decentralized (not controlled by any single organization or entity). It’s a currency that I can send directly to someone else without having to go through a bank. Bitcoin is “stored” on virtual wallets. The blockchain is a list of every single bitcoin transaction. It is available for anyone to see. When I send you bitcoin, it creates a “hash” in the blockchain. Bitcoin is not technically actually stored on your virtual wallet. The wallet is your “private key”. Your private key gives you right access your bitcoins associates with that wallet. “Mining” is just a term for processing the transactions. Miners are volunteers with their own computers, and are paid in bitcoin. The bitcoin comes from a tiny transaction fee whenever someone sends bitcoin. How mining works, very simply, is the miner will see that wallet X send bitcoin to wallet Y. The miner will look at the blockchain, which has every transaction that ever happened, to make sure that wallet X has enough bitcoins. The miners will do that to every transaction in the space of about ten minutes, then this creates a “block” in the blockchain. The first miner to successfully “mine” or process a block is rewarded with new generated bitcoin. This reward gets smaller and smaller until bitcoin caps at 21 million.

A minor example is our own fearful way of thinking. For example, when our phone’s battery goes down to 30-50% we opt to choose to charge it instead of letting it die, mostly because we fear it could die in important circumstances which makes us feel safe with a fully charged cell phone. Almost the same as with our vehicles, most people hate having their gas half tank because they fear scarcity so some choose to fill up their cars. Our conscience and fear plays a big role in the decisions that we make, wether they are life or death situations, or something small as wether I should enjoy a nice donut and coffee for breakfast or a glass of orange juice and an apple.
@jort93z
@jort93z 5 жыл бұрын
Actually, letting it fully discharge is worse for your phone battery. It'll last the longest if you keep it between 20% and 80% or so. charging it overnight and keeping it at 100% is bad, equally it is bad to let your phone die completly. Whats the benefit of letting it die anyway? you might as well charge it when its at 40% and you got a charger close to you. You want to charge it when you have a fitting opportunity to charge it, not when it is dead, theres no point to that. Same goes for the tank. You'll fill up your car when you have an opportunity. You'll drive across the highway and obviously fill up your car when you stop at a gas station to get some food or something. Because you don't want to run out of gas on the highway. Not necissarially fear, but just simply thinking ahead. You'll have to fill it up sooner or later, so might as well do it then.

Thanks to this video I know understand why this marketing strategy works poorly on me. That's because I hate shopping and when I pass a product, I am not thinking "maybe later", I'm thinking "no". The idea of spending more time than strictly required to make a deal irks me. I always decide in an instant whether I do want the thing or not (I might still play hard to catch if I need to haggle but my mind is already set).

The ad before the video literally told me: "Just this week! Dont miss it!" 😂

Your Profile Picture is rather terrifying, so I like imagining it to resemble a snowman with a brown scarf on. Also, I suffer HORRIBLY from this psychological tactic to the point of panicking and staring at the item for prolonged periods of time. It's good to have a nice rundown on the subject, like how in horror movies, when one sees the monster, it automatically loses a greater sense of terror it previously acquired throughout the film.

not related, but I got a Hamilton ad that was just the music video for 'wrote my way out' before this video and I have to say, that was probably the best ad KZbin has ever given me
