The best advice I ever received from a midwife: "The best birth plan you can have is that you and baby are both as safe and healthy as possible." She had seen too many moms feel like a failure because they had epidurals or c-sections. I was so grateful for it because my labor and birth went completely off the rails!

100% I haven't had children yet and although when I do I'd prefer a vaginal birth, I just want my future babies here safely. There's no easier option, it's all hard. Same with breastfeeding vs bottle feeding. Fed is best.

Your smaller flower arrangement in your kitchen this year looks almost exactly like a decoration we have for Easter in Sweden! It's called Påskris and is basically new blossoming branches that we hang colourful feathers and miniature egg and chick decorations on. Hoping that the fresh flowers in your home brings you all the luck, happiness and prosperity they symbolise!
@dancingpigmonkey
@dancingpigmonkey 2 жыл бұрын
I thought of that too! I brought some fresh leftover branches inside a couple years ago after cutting down a small birch, to make påskris. I put it it water, and after a while the leaves came out and it was so pretty! Normally I only use dry branches, wish I had more birches I could nip a few branches from! 😄

I'm a midwife from Finland and i wanted to come and give you some words of encouragement :D As you said yourself, mother's body and baby's body adapt amazingly well in child birth even with a big baby. Of course the important thing is that mother's and baby's size match (and with a bigger baby especially we hope that they rotate the right way and are positioned right, which helps a lot). For example Asian women have very narrow hips, which means that usually they are not able to deliver bigger babies(4kg or more) vaginally. But you have very good chances to do so. I would consider well when it comes to induction, because statistically it increases the risk of complications and for example needing a c-section a lot. Of course your doctor is the one who makes the decisions by what they feel like is the safest. I just don't want you to feel like you want to be induced early because of the fear of a big baby. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy and delivery when it's time!

I agree completely with what she just said. Inductions lead to a cascade of interventions. Let your body do what it was made to do naturally if possible.
@mareenbartels7383

Agree. My son was always in the 95 percentile, especially the head. And he did indeed have a huge head. I had a vaginal birth and was induced because I was going 2 weeks above due date. Please consider really well to get induced so early. Just because the baby is big doesn't mean it's further developed. I would have wished not to be induced, my son had trouble breathing and just wasn't ready yet.
@jadekuha8120
@jadekuha8120 2 жыл бұрын
I too have heard only alarming things about induced births from my friends who had to opt to induced birth, like that it is super painful and long, one of my friend was induced and it took like 3days of suffering and then some hours of pushing the baby out and she still had to go to c-section because babys heart rate dropped dramatically. Just plain brutal experience which I don't wish to anyone... Have to add, kiitos sinulle työstäsi, synnytyssali on intensiivinen paikka työskennellä. Huomasin tämän molemmilla synnytyskerroillani, ja vaikka kätilöt ja lääkärit kaikki olivat selkeästi uupuneita, sain turvallista ja hyvää kohtelua aina kaikesta huolimatta. Kiitos teille hyvästä työstänne. ♥️

My daughter was conceived through IVF too! She was a big baby......10lbs, 22 inches long! I was in labor for 5 hrs and I had her naturally with no pain medication! It does hurt and it is kind of scary! But it’s only scary because you’ve never gone through it before! I think the unknown is the hardest part! You need to push efficiently and stay calm! You can do it and I’ve had worse pain!Its bearable and you forget about all that once you have your baby in your arms! You can do it......stay focused, put your chin into your chest when you push and you got this! Good Luck!!!🍀

My baby measured in the upper 90th percentile all through my pregnancy as well but slowed down at the end. There was much talk about inducing labor, but I refused and in the end he came one day before the due date and was "only" in the 75 percentile. Ultrasounds are seldom accurate and more like as close a guess as doctors can make. Listen to your gut and go with what feels right and safe for you.
@c-hwilliams156

It's so strange to me that they're giving such precise measurements, I dunno if it's because you're in HK or if its because technology has advanced since I had my baby (in the UK) 4 years ago, but I was told the whole time that she looked "big" and she totally wasn't. She was 7lb2oz at birth and we had to get tiny baby clothes for her! And I know I'm not the only one who has been told they're gonna have a big baby and then haven't, so hope this helps!

That's exactly what I was thinking... I had my son in 2020 and they basically told me they won't know the size until he's out... 🤷‍♀️ I specifically asked for his size, and the doctor and nurses said there was no way they could know. They also didn't give many ultrasound scans at all because they were concerned about the impacts to the baby so that might have played a part in it... Sounds like HK must have better technology... I did have an anatomy ultrasound at around 20 weeks I think, and they checked his measurements. They also measured my belly every appointment. I only had one ultrasound my entire pregnancy.
@herminexd
@herminexd 2 жыл бұрын
hey there, mother of a 17month old here and i am from Romania, i had these measurements as well during the entire pregnancy so i would say it's just technology but also how much attention your doctor is giving you. There are more and less involved doctors and that may be more important than the technology used :)

For any mothers that ever felt/feel shamed about not being able to breast feed (and any of those guilty of shaming!!) - my mum bottle fed both me and my brother for one very very good reason: Dad! Dad was not only able to take on half the feeding work (it was easier for him to get up at night), but he was also able to really bond with both his kids in those first few months with the cuddles and nurturing. For a grizzly old Scotsman, from a culture that doesn't express emotions that easily, it was really perspective changing for him and broke the generation cycle of "cold" fathers in his family. A lot of my friends who are Dads now have admitted they felt a bit disconnected from their babies, and weren't really able to bond until they were transitioning off milk. I think that's really sad... FED IS BEST. And letting Dad (or other mum!) bottle lets both parents bond right from the start 🥰

Breastfeeding and pumping advice! As a mom who struggled both of my children and breastfeeding them! Make sure you have a lactation consultant. Just to make sure latch is good and everything is right and your baby is getting enough milk. Just pump as much as you can...literally take it to the hospital with you and pump when your baby is asleep at the hospital. Also Moringa powder is reccomended by my lactation consultant to boost milk supply. It's the only one that's been tested and have actual results. Apparently those milk teas can actually lower supply in some women and no one wants that headache. It's a healthy thing I bet you could even be taking it now but I would talk to your doctor before taking it before birth but I think it would be amazing to get it in your system days or a week before. I wish I pumped in the hospital but all the other advice I've done and it does work.

Although I have finished having babies now your fertility and subsequent pregnancy journey have been so amazing to watch. And your mobile baby station is genius, I wish I had thought of that all those years ago! Ps. My son was also in the top percentile and weighed 10lb. It started as a water birth (like my daughter) but I had to get out and crouch on a little stool as he got a bit stuck 😬 apart from that it went smoothly. Listening to your midwife/doctor and being prepared to change your plans I think are the most important things with the bigger babies! More to cuddle ♥️

Last I went in at 29 weeks 5 days, I was told my baby was measuring at 70th percentile and started to panic.... but I mean thanks for making me feel kind of better about it! Haha my fundal height also measured at 32... so I think our babies are absorbing everything were eating because you and I both just look all belly 🙈 thanks for sharing this journey with us Taylor!

My middle kid was 10 plus. Labor was fine. His head was a little asynclitic which slowed labor a tad, but my midwife was amazing and a few changes in laboring position and things went quickly and well. Good labor support is so key. You got this!!

For the breast pads, 100% yes for the reusable ones! But the disposable ones are really helpful for until your milk regulates. I leaked through the reusable ones often until my milk regulated.

It looks like you are very prepated and know you are strong and capable for anything even when you feel like you are not. Also be open to anything that could happen to ensure the healthiest delivery of your child! I had to have an emergency c-section and I was very sad about it. In retrospect it took some of my joy away from that moment having a negative mindset about it. You got this Taylor!

So excited for you! I’m sure you’ve already thought of it, but make sure to anchor all your shelves to the walls so baby won’t pull them over on himself once he starts pulling himself up. Lots of blessings to you and yours. You and your husband will be such wonderful parents!

My baby was estimated much bigger as well(since the 20 week scan), even at 38 weeks they said he measures to be around 3900g. I was induced at 38+4 and he was born just a few weeks ago, at 38+5 3500g and 51cm. He was a completely average caucasian baby. I got an epidural at around 4cm and then it progressed to 10cm super quick compared how it got to 4cm...pushing was so easy for me once he was all the way down. He is my first baby and I pushed him out in 5 minutes...I did not even feel like I was using full force because I did not really know how hard I was allowed to push. The epidural worked so well after I reached 10 cm(pain relief wise) I only felt pressure and I could walk, feel my bladder etc. I was really surprised by this experience. The toughest part for me was the contractions and getting to 10cm, but my husband supported me through that pain and I feel like I could definitely do this again. PS! I am not athletic by any means, if anything I am chubby and indoorsy hahaha.

My brother was 4 kg when he was born. I have 4 siblings, I was the lightest (and oldest) and I was 2.3 kg. All of as were born at our due time, no health complications and vaginal delivery. I do must admit that both my aunt and my mom say that pregnancy was extremely good and easy for them, to a point that after following so many pregnant people online I'm like how on earth?? So I feel kinda guilty cuz I'm not planning to get pregnant, and the odds would be extremely easy for me but still haha.

I literally justttt found you on instagram via a reel a few hours ago.... And then headed over to your youtube instantly. Guess what, i binge watched your videos from pregnancy journey episode 1 all the way up to this latest one. I've watched plenty of vloggers share their pregnancy journey but it was always the common information they'd share.. i couldn't find any that had very detailed information about the procedures (be it regular pregnancy, or ivf, or others even)... But I'm so glad to have come across your channel, thanks to instagram! I just knew the word "ivf" but i never really knew what it's like or how it's done. I had zero information about it other than the name itself. Thank you so much for making these videos for us. You not only shared your journey and emotions, but you also shared every bit of information possible, from symptoms to food to pregnancy items to all the vaccinations & tests taken and even the scientific explanations of whatever the doctors or nurses told you about, like the terms and stuff, or what happens and why or how. Everything was super informative and detailed, and that was so helpful considering the fact that I'm not that educated to be able to understand such terms easily. Your videos literally made my day. Educated me too! got to learn soooooo much. And most importantly, thank you for staying strong and not giving up 💞 this is so precious! Congratulations on becoming parents! 😘🥳 You are so inspiring and strong. Never forget that. I may have just found you, but I'm gonna stay with you hereon 💜 ps: I'm bts Army 🤭 i guess we have one thing in common (kpop?) Hehehehe sending you all my love, hugs and support 😘💜

My mother-in-law pushed out 4 babies. My spouse was the 3rd born, over-due, and the biggest at 13.5lbs (I was 9.5, so I know our babies are gonna be huge like yours!). She, unfortunately, couldn't give birth naturally because the cord got wrapped around his neck and the decision was made that a c-section was the best option. She did all of this while being unable to speak English since she moved to the US from China. All her other babies were natural, but my spouse was just a big big boy! My mother-in-law said that it was a relief that a c-section was performed, and she was just happy her son was out and healthy. Seeing women like you gives me courage for my pregnancies! I love watching your honest journey. You are going to be the best mom. I wish you the best, but remember you can do it because you're stronger than you think you are!

Don’t be too stressed about percentiles! I was told my baby was in the 98th percentile, and measured 42 weeks at 37! But then bub was born and weighed a very normal 2.6kgs! :)

Same, my baby was 98% and head 99% so I was freaking out how I'm gonna push this giant baby out but he was born 3.4kg and his head was smalllll lol like 30%. Honestly I had an awful birth so will spare the details but it had absolutely nothing to do with size but with his position.

just go with the flow :) it hurts a fuckton but mostly the endpart. I actually like pushing because the baby was almost there and pushing took the pain away. I did it twice, would do it again :)And if you want you can always get epidural, but I didnt. keep moving helped me most. Also my babies head measured OFF THE CHARTS! But then he came out he had a normal sized head. His head stopped growing around a certain time near the end of pregnancy and then it wasnt ginormous anymore lol. I was very worried also

So close now! I've been keeping an eye on your social media just in case. Fetal weights at the end of gestation aren't always exact, so he may end up being smaller than the estimate. You've got this!! It's bittersweet to be at the end of this road but I'm even more excited to see you become a mother. Also, pineapples. Pineapples are good for making things happen fast but not too fast. It helps with the cervix apparently.

Three c-sections here… first one came at 38 weeks and my water broke so there was no turning back but despite being given pitocin, my labor wouldn’t progress so a c-section was the only option. Second and third were both induced at 39 weeks!! Also, all 3 of my kids have huge heads (so does my husband and dad) lol ALL 3 are in 96-98%

I hope you’re doing ok. The last weeks are the hardest and the closer you get the more challenging it gets mentally too. Trust that your baby and your body instinctively know what they’re doing. And even if you struggle during birth you’re in good hands and your medical team has got you. It’s going to be ok and in less then a month you’ll be holding your baby and admiring his cute little face❤️

Tips on the breastfeeding from a breastfeeding mom: you can breastfeed! There's only a few percent (about 2 i think) that physically cannot. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise because people will blame things on breastfeeding that are just not true (your milk is not enough for the baby, the baby is not sleeping long enough, you are tired etc etc). If you do have some trouble get a lactation consultant! They know sooooo mucht. La lache leage also has really good info (multiple languages). In my experience and what I've read: the harder part with breastfeeding is mostly the first two months. After that its soooo easy and way easier than formula in my opinion. It's normal for the first time to be a bit difficult beacause you and baby both need to learn.
