Scared Labrador Falls Through Thin Ice | Dog Rescuers

This special Christmas episode of The Dog Rescuers sees a scared Labrador stuck in a frozen river, a homeless man and his companion needing all the help they can get and an incredibly matted and dirty dog reveals more problems once he's shaved.
Dogs are the nation's favorite pet, but seeing how they can be treated might make you think otherwise. Comedian Alan Davies takes us into the world of dog rescuers, where we follow the RSPCA officers who are tasked with investigating reports of cruelty and neglect when it comes to man's best friend.

Hearing Owen’s story makes me feel for him because even though I have cerebral palsy and he has a rare medical condition, we have some similarities with these conditions. Also I’m glad that he feels more confident with having his dog by his side. I hope his confidence continues to grow.

Hardy looks like he got a few extra pounds on, which in the end, very likely may have saved him by keeping him warm a bit longer. And little Matted Molly has had a miraculous transformation! I KNEW someone would want her straight away!!!!

I love The Dog Rescuers. Especially the Christmas episodes. And ones with good endings for rescue dogs with new loving owners. All the RSPCA INSPECTORS, volunteers at the shelters, vets, nurses, new owners are true heroes to innocent dogs Love Alan Davies as narrator in each episode. That's not entirely fair. There are abusers everywhere, - Korea EATS dogs! and keeps them in horrid conditions s they fatten them up! People in many European countries hate feral cats and dogs and poison and euthanize them all the time. In Turkey however, they adore cats and dogs and feral colonies are generally well cared for by members of the public. We have LOTS and LOTS of people in the U.S. who run TNR programs, rescues and shelters for animals in need.

Molly is one lucky dog, and a solid reminder why some dogs with "simple" issues are at risk of being put down for them simple is relative, could call bloat a simple issue but that won't detract the fact it can kill with a simple twist and delayed response

I had a friend who had an isolated property with a pond. Another friend stopped by with her dog for a winter walk. Both women and the dog were found dead in the pond. Apparently. The dog fell in then the women tried to save him. They fell in too and couldn’t get out. It was a shocking tragedy. Think, don’t just react in an emergency. It could prevent an even greater tragedy.

Always keep your dog on a leash! Hardy's situation could have easily been avoided. If you want your dog to have freedom take it to a fenced in area or get a long leash. I have two 100ft long leashes linked together. And this is one reason why I NEVER entrust my dog care to anyone other than myself.

How stupid could someone be, letting a dog walk near the water on a freezing cold day!!! Dogs don't need as much exercise in winter, let alone near water!
