Where I live here in west Wales UK we rely on tourism we have no heavy industry no factories so the locals rely on tourism. It has a price to pay traffic jams prices in the shops go up in the summer so it means locals pay more but we need the tourists. I hope they do their best to keep as much of it as it is , because visitors do spoil wherever they go , I understand that the Philippines need the dollars and the pounds from tourism as we do here in Wales but sad to say there is a price to pay. A stunningly beautiful place and a stunningly beautiful vlog , you are the man you put out such great content,thanks for showing us these beautiful places . Sorry this is a bit long

Very similar to parts of the South West coast of Ireland, the mountainous coastal views, with the stone cottages where I come from. The Irish people were once called, the filipinos of Europe. I myself love the filipino people and their country, welcoming and smiles as broad as their beaches. Good work Kyle 👌

Jerry MacGillicuddy Irish people as Filipinos of Europe? Wow! Amazing! How did they come up with that, or why?
@irishadventuresuk6 жыл бұрын
It was first said back in the 1970's by some minister from the Philippines on a visit to Ireland. because, the Irish are known for their warm welcome, their door is always open and they want you to enjoy yourselves. When I was in the Philippines last year, I felt so so at home there, lots of things reminded me of when I was younger.

+Jerry MacGillicuddy really nice info ! I've never met an irish before. your comment makes me wanna visit ireland and make some friends
@yenshamay2916 жыл бұрын
the reason why the houses are made of stone is that this group of islands acts as a passageway for a storm. and i've always known that irish people are very welcoming as well.

Based on what your journals shows, Batanes seems to be like heaven on earth. I planned to put it on my bucket list. I am with you with all your concerns about environmental protection and I hope that our government would impose really stricter laws about it, just like in Singapore, New Zealand, Austria etc. Keep sharing good vibes Kulas!

Absolutely amazing! I hope I get to see it in the same condition one day. April '17 was my first time out of the U.S. and I'm SOOOOOO glad I chose the Philippines!!! I fell in love with the place and the people. I HATE seeing what's happened in Boracay and is happening in other areas also. I hope the Philippines get tourism under control and find a balance it can handle. As far as water, I got the best advice in my opinion from a travel adviser. She said take a Lifestraw bottle. You can get water most anywhere and not have to use plastic bottles and don't have to worry about messing with our sensitive western tummys...haha It worked great for my trip and I'll be taking it back with me next month again. I'm SUPER!!! excited to get back to the Philippines! Ingat!

Lu Muru You're very welcome. I'm sure there are other brands as well, but I didn't have time to research before my trip so I picked up the only name I had heard of. It worked great, no strange taste or anything after the first few mouth fulls being brand new. They tasted plasticy so I spit a few mouthfuls out and has been good since.

I totally agree. Tourism can help the local community but there are ways to get things correctly. We want this place as beautiful years and years from now for our children and our children's children. I am for tourism boost but as tourists we have responsibilities to preserve and protect the place we visit.

They collected billions of pesos in environmental fees from tourists visiting Boracay but the money is unaccountable. They did not use any of that money to protect the environment and upgrade the sewer system. They need to elect civic minded people who put country first before themselves. Singapore used to be a British naval port with fishing villages and banana trees. Now look at it today. They have strong laws against corruption and they pay politicians very well so if they corrupt themselves prison sentences would be very punitive.

" I completely agree that more should be done to protect these places and not just be motivated by the money that tourism brings." Problem is, sometimes it's the locals who pressure various levels of government to allow increased tourism -- at the same time that developers are offering, er, financial incentives to government officials.

It is a real possibility this could happen in the future as we become more automated in our societies and this will free up more time for people to travel and enjoy this great planet we call earth. Barocay is a great example of what could happen in the future if we are not aware of our effect on the environment here in the Philippines.

"Awareness", not restriction, is the key. And love of nature! If you love something/someone you will do everything to protect it/them. I cringe at people who say 'Boracay is so overcrowded, blah blah blah.' The fact that you ARE or have been on the island makes you part of the crowd. So yeah, just public awareness.
