I've never been able to a push-up and I'm 71. Do I dare try again and maybe tear something. Any advice,? This is so impressive.

Start slow and take easier variations if you're feeling uncertain about doing a push-up and make sure to always warm up properly. This includes not just warming up the muscles involved in a pushup, but your wrists as well. Good luck!

You just have to start at your level and progress by time. You can do for example push ups against the wall or on any incline. If you are strong enough try knee push ups and then after some time you will definitely be able to do normal push-ups. I would do them every other day so your muscles have enough time to repair.
