As a 6'2, 195 lbs guy who works out regularly, I was a bit happy to see some smaller guys do stuff usually reserved for bigger guys with bigger hands, like the dumbbell. It showed me that if I just keep training, I may be able to do it someday as well, as my hands aren't huge either. On a good day, I can just do 1-2 reps on the Captains of Crush #2 with my right hand, maybe my left, so seeing them struggle with it just like I do makes it seem possible to attain their levels of strength. Weighted pull-ups also used to be a thing for me, but I never went above 80 lbs or so in training, although for one rep max I could probably have hit over 100. For anyone else inspired, just remember these things take years and years of consistent training to achieve, so start now and you'll never have to look back and wonder "if".

Watching you 2 picking up and moving rocks is giving me flashbacks to my childhood. Growing up on a small family farm, my sisters and I had to help pick rocks out of the field (so the rocks wouldn't get stuck in harvesting equipment) and my dad and grandpa would pick up the bigger ones to move them onto the tractor for transport. They would be doing similar techniques (which they tried to impart to us) and I hated it. We were walking the field back and forth, miles on end, running to and fro getting rocks, and it was horrible. I also am glad that Ben is okay after the rock on the thigh. I can relate, sort of. I had the rear tractor tire with wheel from a 7100 series Case IH Magnum tractor fall over and pin my thigh to the ground, and it was bruised for weeks to a few months afterward. It is scary having something that large/heavy landing on your body and causing injury to your person. Thank you, Magnus, for the video and be safe.

This dude achieved the perfect strong lifter/strong climber balance I’ve been chasing. They usually don’t mix well
@TheBanana202Күн бұрын
They mix very well. Just prioritize pulling movements and crimp strength to offset higher weight and manage your weight a bit. Many World cup climbers also lift, and im not just talking weighted pullups. Coming from someone who used to lift dedicatedly then dropped it for climbing and is now doing both, i am the strongest ive ever been in climbing after training hard in the gym again. Im flashing my project level from a year ago where i was 10kg lighter.
@sapinvaКүн бұрын
Gravity always wins in the end. If he dropped 10 lbs, it would instantly add at least another climbing grade.
@TheBanana202Күн бұрын
@@sapinva that is only short term focused. In the long term, being a bit heavier as opposed to obsessing about being as light as possible allows for harder training sessions and better recovery, ultimately leading to becoming stronger in the long term. And you can always drop some weight for an upcoming comp. Ive experienced this first hand, tried to stay at the „ideal“ weight for climbing for my height (im 187cm and most climbers around my height weigh only 70 or so kg) and i felt malnourished, got sick and injured often and had shit recovery. Now sitting at 80 i can train way harder than before and am much healthier.

@@TheBanana202 Any personal advice/resources on a routine for doing this? I'd like to lose 10lbs, powerlift, and rock climb, but I'm unsure how to tackle all those things simultaneously. The fatigue hits me so quickly once I try and do a bit of weightlifting and climbing in a week.
@TheBanana202Күн бұрын
@@christiancapriotti6525 Id probably cycle between dedicated powerlifting training and dedicated climbing. So lets say 6 months of powerlifting 3x a week and only climbing 1-2, then the same but swapped. Personally, i dont do squats or deadlifts because they are too fatigueing for CNS and climbing is more important to me. I just do a few months a year where i do 3 upper body sessions a week and only climb once, then the rest of the year i just do one upper body session. I usually do the strength phase when my fingers are feeling tweaky. And i do a few sets of pistol squats throughout my day to keep sufficient leg strength. It will definitely be a bit more difficult to mix in deadlifts and squats though, so pay attention to recover well enough. Once a week is sufficient to maintain climbing skill or powerlifting strength, and even gain a little bit. Trying to do both evenly at the same time didnt work for me.
