A lot of my friends (doesn't read comic books) keep asking me what her powers are and it took me a really hard time to explain it because she's literally one of the most powerful heroes in the comics. Let's just say she can manipulate realities and probabilities with ease which means she can do almost everything in a god-like level. Sure, she looked nerf down in the mcu but it makes sense tho. not every details of her powers in the comics have to appear in the movies. I think by the time Strange step in, it will be easier to explain to everyone about her and Strange's powers, no need for scientific explanations, it's just magic. I hope Wanda will have at least SOMEthing to do with Strange before, during or after his movie comes out this year, they both are the most powerful witches/magicians/sorcerers in the mcu so far.

To answer many questions, FOX gave the MCU teams as much trouble as possible when it came to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. They only allowed their inclusion with certain rules: -NO mention that they were mutants. Which meant their origins had to be completely rebooted. -NO mention of X-Men characters. An extension of rule one. Which meant no Magneto or Xavier coming to break them out. -Wanda couldn't call her powers "chaos magic". Which meant no mention of "Hex Bolts", "reality warping", OR "probability manipulation". This reduced her to her current "Jean Grey" form on film where she's limited to telekinesis/hypnosis. Her powers MIGHT be expanded upon in future installments to further her character but key words will likely be omitted. Because of this, Quicksilver was probably killed off in Age of Ultron because X-MEN already had a Quicksilver of their own: one they could do whatever the fuck with because of having full rights. With an already huge ensemble, the production team figured Wanda's powers and potential new story lines could be more interesting than adding a speedster/marksman with Hawkeye already filling that role in a way.

Super Saiyan Goddess Well Fox does on the rights to the word Mutants when it comes to the rights to all things marvel, so it's not such a stretch that the company also owns the rights to powers and characteristics that originated in their comics. Foxs owns both X men and Fantastic Four so they own the rights to about half of Marvel since those were the big flagship books for the bulk of Marvels history.
