At first I preferred the AT2035, but after listening for a while, I think the Scarlett is the best for what I’m looking for! I’m mainly using it for vocals and I prefer the bass in the Scarlett over the almost ear piercing highs(in my opinion, after listening to both with high volume) in the AT2035. Plus there seemed as though there was a lot more white noise from the AT2035 than the Scarlett, if you listen carefully @3:19

Man i see lots of people talking trash about CM25 so let me say this: First of all there is a price diffference, second, Audio Technica has lot more self noise (20 dB(A)) than CM25 (18 dB(A)) but actually focusrite does great job in filtering that noise as you can hear in comparison 3:24 vs 3:37 (and for those saying that CM25 has more base in noise, that is actually better cause most of the time while making music you are going to set EQ cut on lows, but removing high frequencies is lot harder in post.

Do you think getting the AT2035 and the focusrite interface would work? I'm trying to do vocals and from the comparison the AT2035 did seem a little brighter than the CM25, but I'm wondering if the interface is helping to get that sound lower end for the CM25. I just heard the AT2035 was better but if not shoot I guess I can roll with that CM25.

Hey man i just wanted to say, great presentation of the review, i really liked being able to hear vocals and string sounds separately and together for real, it was nice. Only thing i would have liked to make this perfect would be at the end when you are talking about features and thoughts/facts, display on screen which Mic is being used as your speaking (Swap) for a standard Mic test. I think they both sound good and very similar in quality. The Audio Technica has sound a bit more clear, but the CM25 has a bit more bass on the low end, but it sounds just a little bit more muddy. Still clear though, just not as clear on the high end as the Technica. My conclusion is that the CM25 is better for Male vocals and the Technica is better for female vocals. But that's just my opinion based on watching these KZbin video comparisons. It could be that the Technica would make a Woman's voice sound more high pitch than it needs to be. And maybe her voice can benefit by a low end boost that the CM25 provides. Now I want to get both. One for the verse and 1 for the chorus. The CM25 for the verse, and the Technica for the chorus. But for the price of both, we can just buy a Blue Sparks mic that might blow both of these away. What do you think?

My honest opinion after listening to this over headphones. I think the Scarlett Mic does a better noise cancellation compared to the Audio Technica. Please listen over headphones and see what i mean. The Scarlett sounds cleaner & subtle. While the Audio Technica has a higher frequency but i could pick up background sounds in the vocal. Conclusion Scarlett is better for vocals. The Audio Technica shines abit with the instruments

For the price of the AT you could get the Scarlett bundle and then buy the AT to record instruments. I have recorded with this AT model before and I didn't like it's performance with vocals but I did like how acoustic instruments sound with it

Was thinking about upgrading from Scarlett to AT, after listening to this comparison, I am not convicted this would be an upgrade. I can hear the transitions with my eyes shut, but only if I'm REALLY paying attention, it seems that the AT has more clarity in "shimmer" pitches (stuff over 16khz), there is more brightness and fullness in upper tones, however this is incredibly nuanced and should not be overexaggerated. I disagree with some commenters' observations about the bassiness of the Scarlett, I think we are just perceiving the less pronounced highs as a fuller low end when in reality they are much closer to being equal in warmth/depth in that regard. Overall I believe I would have to shell out more money than I initially thought to get a mic that would constitute an actual "upgrade" I am very pleasantly surprised with how the Scarlett held it's own in this matchup. Finally, compliments to the maker(s) of the video, very well done apples to apples comparison. Thank you for the time you put into this, and the great performances to boot!! :)

Audio Technica has more body and a very good top and a very nice low end... The focusrite does not disappoint as a entry level mic... which is what i think the guys at focurite wanted it to be.. every singer's beginner mic.

Apologies for seeming ignorant, but is that you singing as well as playing guitar? You're voice is great. Your accent virtually disappears when singing and it surprised me when you switched to voice over. i guess its the same as when we americans hear british singers and don't know they are such until they speak normally. Both will work well. What's nice in the AT2035 is that there is a switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter and 10 dB pad switch. These can be quite useful in some situations.
