@Harmony-tk1nm she actually does. The Washington Post put out an article yesterday talking about it. The Post got ahold of voice recordings and a signed contract with the voice actor that proves that OpenAI hired her months before Sam first reached out to Johansson. That doesn’t mean they’re in the clear, though. Even if you get another person to do the voice, her team could still argue, possibly successfully, that the intention was still to mimic or imitate her

Regardless of wether he's lyning or not Scarlett and others like her in the "fame" industry need to stop being so greedy and wake up to the fact that just like the rest of us, soon their services may not even be required by film makers. It's a shame that more actors and movie stars can't be a bit more grateful for the millions they already have. Someone with true talent will always make money no matter how many times someone infringes on their copyright, image our other pseudo legal instrument, designed to protect them from fairness.

I’ve been using the sky voice in ChatGPT for several months now and if anything, it’s kind of reminiscent of the early Siri voice, which would make sense given the whole digital assistant thing. I think this is just Scarlet being Scarlet, trying to see if she can squeeze money out of another situation

@@cablebrain9691 where are you still able to access the Sky voice? I can select it in the ChatGPT iOS app but it ends up as the Juniper voice. My understanding is the Sky voice is not available anywhere, currently

They don't sound alike. Johansson has a distinctive rasp to Samantha's voice in her that is nonexistent in Openai's Sky voice. The tone is similar, but not the same. Maybe instead of a hissy fit, Scarlett could be flattered. If the Sky voice was indeed that of a voice actor, and not artificially generated, then what is the argument here? Does that voice actor's career end because Johansson thinks they sound alike? That's BS. Now Chat GPT freezes the best voice on the platform and paying subscribers lose out.

“Maybe instead of a hissy fit, Scarlett could be flattered” is an insane thing to say… If someone asked you to use your voice/likeness in an AI chatbot that would be used by millions of people everyday, you decline and then when it’s released sounds similar to your voice would you not be disturbed? they literally asked her to voice it TWICE and she declined, the CEO has referenced the movie Her multiple times so obviously they intended the voice to sound like Scarlett’s and did it anyway when she said no. Her lawyers also asked OpenAI to detail exactly how they created the voice and they took it down, so maybe they used her voice in the training data

The thing is that an actor can't sue a director for taking another actor that is similar to them to a movie. It's a bit similar thing. Voice is a part of one's likeness that a casting producer might be after for a role.

No, I've heard regular snippets, with normal interactions, that sound eerily like Johansson, had no "acting" in it. But you are right, this one, was just a bad choice, it fails to demonstrate the problem, and why it has upset Johansson... I would be upset too, sounds way too similar, and ofc we have to consider the intent, that she was actually asked to be the Sky voice, as late as 2 days prior to ChatGPT4.O release. It just doesn't pass the smell test... Sam Altman knew he was in trouble, because 2 days prior to release, the voice was already done. There is no way he thought "Oh I'll just ask Scarlett again, 2 days before releasing, and in 2 days, we'll just implement the new model and make the appropriate changes". Computer says no!

If this lawsuit goes forward, this sets an extremely bad precedent. The implication will be that anybody that sounds like an already famous celebrity will not be able to do voiceover work? That's ridiculous whether they initially wanted Scarlett Johansen or not. What about actors and actresses? If filmmakers want to cast Bryce Dallas Howard because of her look, but they get Jessica Chastain after Bryce turns down the role, does Bryce get to sue? I have literally mixed those two up in a movie before and thought one was the other. Open AI never advertised or made you think it was Scarlett Johansen. In fact I never even KNEW people thought there was a connection until the Sky voice changed and I did an Internet search to figure out WTF happened. Where is the misrepresentation or theft if they didn't sample her voice? I'm sorry but just because you don't like something doesn't mean you have grounds for damages and that you are owed anything. This kind of frivolous litigation really highlights what's wrong with the legal system in the US.

It's likely that her voice was initially hard coded and then later added other extra voices to make it sound different but seems the tone's the same as her. If there's multiple voices, it should sound like the Star Trek Borg's cacophony of voices talking at the same time.
