Great review thank you. For those wanting to know how to identify the difference between the old and new version, you just have to look at the leather around the ankle. On the old version it is plain leather, on the new version there is a stitched pattern.

Hi Loz ☺️ glad you liked the review 👍🏻 Scarpa tend to change things for the better and this is definitely the case with the Terra 😊 Thanks for your input 😄 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏔⛺️

I have size 8 feet, a size 9 Terra provides a snug fit for my narrow heels and wide forefeet. Early days but I like them. My Craghoppers lasted about 1,200 miles over a year, I’d like the Terras to do better.

Fit is such a subjective matter and people will fit into what they fit into 😄 glad that they suit your feet so far 👍🏻 my wife has had good use out of hers although they are showing signs of advanced wear now and I suspect we will need a new pair soon 🤔 longevity can depend on after-care and how appropriately the footwear is used, in my experience these last well for the type and style of boot they are, hopefully you will find similar but I’ve always found scarpas after-care and attention to customer service excellent ☺️ enjoy the use ⛰️🏕️🌀

Great and very informative review ! Scarpa does describe the leather as full grain, not an oiled nubuck on their website. Best regards from America.
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, thanks for your comment, I’m glad you liked the review ☺️ Nubuck is an odd one and we get asked about it a lot in the shop- it gets confused with suede 🤔 it is, in this case, effectively a full-grain leather that has been sanded on the outer and then oiled to give its final finish- in this type of boot, (gore-tex lined light calf skin leather upper), I prefer oiled nubucks as they seem to absorb shoe creams better than more traditional smooth finish leather- leather quality and type is a complex business, (which I still have much to learn)- it’s origins are important, as are the tanning processes that are used- in our experience, for the weight, this leather is as good as it gets on lighter weight boots 🥾 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕🌞🌀

@@WildcraftBritain I have a pair arriving on Monday. Do you recommend Scarpa HS12 as a proofer or Nikwax Waterproofing Wax For Leather ( or something else ) ?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenroche9874 I rate both those products, (and use both- it’s mine I use in the video ☺️)- I use nikwax as an everyday easy use, (as it goes on wet or dry leather), and HS12 as a more penetrative conditioner 👍🏻 there’s lots of others out there, that’s what we use as they work well 😊
@stevenroche98742 жыл бұрын
@@WildcraftBritain I find the Nikwax works very well yet not very long lasting. Does the HS12 give longer lasting performance ( I have never used it, I have a jar on order ) ?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenroche9874 in my experience, yes, it lasts longer and seems to penetrate better 🥾

I'm really keen to get a pair but I'm just a bit concerned about how much mountain terrain they'd be able to deal with? I'm going to be doing a trek in Nepal (Annapurna circuit). It's path the whole way with some rocky bits but there's no picking your way over lots of rocks etc as I understand.
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, having never been on the trails you mention it’s hard to know what to advise 🤔 they sound perfect for your trip, reliably water proof and reasonably stable underfoot for the weight- if you go for a more mountain oriented boot, it will be heavier and stiffer underfoot, which on the good paths could prove tiresome- it’s ultimately a call only you can make- have you asked on forums what other people have used on the same trip? It’s a tough one as we all have different expectations and experience ☺️ hope your trip goes well what ever your boots!🥾 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕🏔🌀

I have a pair but not sure if I have the older version or the newer version how do I know the difference?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
There are some aesthetic differences, but I can’t remember them ☺️ compare yours to the present Scarpa Terra pictures on their website 👍🏻 Scarpa made the change in 2018, so if you got them before that date they will be the older version, after that, by about 2019 all the old stock should have sold through 🤔 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕🌞🌀

Скажите пожалуйста, какие самые низкие температуры они комфортно выдерживают?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
They are not a cold weather boot 🥾 it’s always a difficult one to answer as the temps in the U.K. are generally high- around freezing at a guess, but much would depend on you socks 🧦😊 enjoy your outdoors time, Andy ⛰🏕🌀

Can they be resoled?
@WildcraftBritain Жыл бұрын
Hi Finbarr- no, unlike say, the Scarpa Ranger, these can’t be resoled 👍🏻 it’s all about how the boot is bonded to the sole unit 🤔 however, these are lighter boots and tend not to have the upper durability of heavier weight boots, so when the sole is gone the upper probably won’t be to far behind ☺️ Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕️🌞⛰️🌀

Will this boot fit narrow, low volume feet?
@WildcraftBritain2 жыл бұрын
It’s not designed for that foot shape- however, nothing in the U.K. Scarpa range is really 🤔 however, my wife has narrow low volume feet and owns a pair, (as seen in the video). She uses a Sidas insole, (which reduces the volume), and tightens the laces close together and gets on with them well 👍🏻 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🌞🏕🌀

No, they have a fit like a welly! I have two pairs of Asolo Powermatic 200 Evo GV's, purchased from Trailblazer who stock the 1/2 sizes(!). A narrow, low volume fit and and really stiff midsole with a slight 'active' , rather than 'dead' flex. Check them out, a much more serious boot but still fine for easier walking.

Ow about very hot seasons? Were they still feel comfortable?
@WildcraftBritain6 ай бұрын
That’s a question. I’m often asked about various kit and it’s a difficult one to answer as there are many nuances 🤔 these are not a summer boot but can be worn in summer in the right conditions, as ever sock choice are a very important part of the too hot too cold equation- any boot made of leather with a GX liner will prove warm in hot conditions and it’s only the mesh construction non-waterproof liner boots that tend to deal well in very hot weather 🤔 I have around eight pairs of boots for different seasons and different locations, one piece of footwear for all of your outdoor activities and all of the seasons in the northern hemisphere will always result in a compromise 😉 my advice would be to buy the footwear that most suits your general walking times, and as a final thought, in very hot weather, You can tend to get away with just trainers or other lightweight cheaper footwear, but in winter, you need to correct footwear for the environment ☀️🌦️🍂🌀
