This is a great clip, my brother was part of the punk scene in the late 70s in Edinburgh and remembered seeing The Scars on quite a few occasions, he rated them big style, he also insists I seen them at the Meadows festival but I can't remember, too young, I've listened to Opium Kitchen and they're excellent. Hope they do get a proper reunion one day.

Just getting into this band. Feel a bit like I did when I got into The Sound around 5/6 years ago: "This is amazing! Why haven't I heard it before?" So good!

Got the album on import in 1981. No one knew about the band, aside from the guy in the record store. Zero airplay here in Seattle -- or probably the rest of the US. The album, of course, was a brilliant piece of rock, with excellent guitar work, lyrics, and -- as you can tell here -- great drum work, and punchy bass work by John Mackie (check out "Everywhere I Go" on the 'Tube -- I think it's out there somewhere, his bass is punchy and tasteful on that track especially). After the album came out, the band turned into a sort of enigma. There was no other album. Just the LP and cassette (which had a couple extra tracks). Always wondered which guitar Paul Research used to get the tones on the album. Looks like an Aria maybe? It's great seeing them play live. Would have been better to seem them live in '81, but there ya go.... Thanks for posting this gem.

What? Like Freddie Mercury minus the talent. It looks like a home made New Romantic outfit. As a band they seem out of step with the great Scottish bands of that era, Orange Juice, Josef K, Fire Engines etc.
