Mr Acquah,I wish you could invite Peter Tasiri, the chief executioner of the generals in June 1979 to furnish you with in-depth information why they didn't execute only okatakyie afrifa who was their main target but, wasted Bob Kotei,Roger Felli,Yaw Boakye,Joy Amedume, and Kwaku Utuka? I know they have been vindicated though dead. I remember watching on my grandpa's black and white television at dansoman estates, early in the morning of June 16, 1979, the remains of generals acheanpong and utuka on the stakes at teshie firing range. Well, God knows why He allowed those executions.

Calling on Rawlings to acquiesce to an independent investigation is akin to asking a person with a big oozing sore on the leg to prepare water for dressing the sore. It is only a fool that will go and over boil water to be poured into his/her gaping sore.

the perpetrators of June 4th ie Major Boakye Gyan and Baah did not have any meeting minds with Rawlings. They should have critically analysed who Rawlings was before they freed him. Thier agenda to Revolt was clearly different from that of Rawlings. If they had done thier homework well, the nation at the time will not be plunged into chaos. Rawlings was a hungry man for power who went on air to incite soldiers etc to take arms ...fight the officers and of cos we all know the ripple effects, civilians etc were affected. I dont blame ppl who adore Rawlings afterall he knew how to appeal and appease the masses. But today have we really gained as a nation?

I am enjoying these interviews and documentaries into the history of Ghana. There are a lot of lessons to be learnt from individual point to nationalistic view. The many actors, participants and observers have all come out to express dissatisfaction, remorse, apologies etc. I am of the firm belief that some people died uselessly to the advantage of others and these beneficiaries are still clamouring for power and recognition. Whoever is reading this piece should not make a mistake to sacrifice his blood for any thirsty power seeking person.

If Cpt. Baah Achamfour claims he only became a member of AFRC on the 19th June 1979, then how does he also claim that he was arrested on the eve of 4th June 1979, i.e. 3rd June 1979, for masterminding or spearheading the coup d'etat or "govt" takeover in the name of a revolution, where he is even seen & deemed the leader or preferred leader of AFRC. Something does not add up well in his account or ring properly in his narrative and recount of the events & occurences in that brazen dastard so-called revolution era of the AFRC.

Baah was asked by Peter Tasiri and co to lead them for coup. He sacked them but they came back. The day before June 4th he was arrested. Baah escaped and commanded the boys to over come the senior officers. JJ was in jail and Boakye Gyan was in a hide out with Nana Konadu. Baah single handedly led and commanded the junior officers and won. The boys rescued Rawlings on June 4th whom instead of reporting himself to Baah at the 5 battalion went straight to broadcasting and introduced himself as leader of June 4th.

@@petitben5240 Thanks for your explanation. It was only 20 years after independence. The first president tried buy building factories and at the same time used Ghana's money helping other African countries to find independence all because he wanted African unity and possibly the president of Africa. The French African countries warned him he almost bankrupted Ghana and subsequently he overthrown. After 1979, the hardship continues, there were several coup attempts as a result of that. Until in the early 90s cheap Chinese goods came to our rescue. The administration he overthrown did well in farming. Now, we import rice, maize and frozen meat and fish. She invited me to Ghana to visit her parents in Accra and others relatives in Kumasi and Takoradi. I still know to this day how to eat fufu and gare. Btw, me and Doris were both students at université Dauphine , in Paris. I love Ghana and Ghanaian a lot, even though I find them ethnocentric and selfish sometimes. Also as Guinean by birth, my parents generations owe huge debt of gratitude to Ghanaian people and the late Dr. Nkrumah. @Inner Worlds any loss of life under any circumstances is awful. I understand how some Ghanaian were asking for blood to flow in those violent days. I cannot begin to tell you, brother, the shock and sadness l had that summer when We landed in Accra via Abidjan. Even though, Doris had warned me about how life was tough for ordinary Ghanaian, nothing prepared me for what l saw that summer. Ghana was supposed to be the leading light for other African countries. Remember, when France wanted to block Guinea admission to the UN, it was Ghana diplomacy that strong arms the other UN general assembly members to impose Guinea admission despite France whining about it. To see that black star run to the ground because of greed and incompetence was really disheartening. But as you said, nothing justifies the killing of Ghanaian in the hands of other Ghanaian under any circumstances. Bless you, brother. Please be well and safe. May God bless Ghana and Ghanaian.

Each time I watch this interview I get angry at the host. He has no background of what went on hence the infantile line of questioning. Very painful to watch. He miss quotes Maj Rida and can’t even point out the contradictions in these criminals stories.

Rawlings did not betray him. He outsmarted him. They wanted to use Rawlings leadership quality to steal from the country but Rawlings refused. Hence the hatred towards Rawlings.
