Overall (property and violent) crime in western LA is 20-30% now of what is used to be in 1985 (apparently 1992 was the highest crime rates). As well, homelessness surged in the mid-80's, though admittedly, I don't have relative numbers handy...no doubt COVID economics drove those numbers up.
