I had a personal call-back to this movie. When they filmed the empty London scene, it was a huge deal. Central London is NEVER quiet so they were lucky to get the shots they needed at something crazy early in the morning. During the pandemic, I had to walk over that bridge to get to work (I was classed as an essential government worker) and I had the weirdest sense of fear and dejavu the first few times thanks to this movie as the area was absolutely barren, for the first time in many years. A young man actually used the opportunity to re-film that scene, knowing it would probably be their only shot - I'm sure it's somewhere on KZbin. Bit of trivia for you. Glad you guys enjoyed the movie!

Fun fact: the Researcher at the very start who tries to stop them from releasing the chimp was (I presume he still is) a comedian, regularly playing a range of characters opposite Steve Coogan as Coogan's decades-running alter ego, Alan Partridge (a send-up of tedious middle aged presenters). During the Christmas finale of 'Alan's' Abba-influenced TV chat show, Knowing Me Knowing You (cue Partridge followers shouting "Ah-Haaaaaa!" at me), that self same comedian gets punched unconscious by Alan with a Christmas turkey stuck on his arm after telling Alan live on air that, as the BBC Controller, he'd decided Alan wouldn't be given a second series. BAM! So, to see him in a serious role here, brief as it was, was strange...

If you guys are interested in checking out more Cillian Murphy movies I can't recommend 'The Wind that Shakes the Barely' enough. Possibly his best piece of acting.

Great movie but I feel so bad for the mom. She seems so sweet and innocent and to have her react to such disturbing scenes 😂

If y’all read, check out John Wyndham’s The Day Of The Triffids, (not the film,) it’s only about 280pgs, and this film pulls so much of it’s story directly from that book. The most obvious thing taken from the book is the waking up in the hospital after the event has happened-Same thing that happens in The Walking Dead, tho I dunno if Robert Kirkman took that from Day Of The Triffids or 28 Days Later. In a similar way to how George A. Romero & John A. Russo pulled from Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend and the first adaptation (and best) of I Am Legend, The Last Man On Earth (1964) starring Vincent Price. They’re zombies, you can call them zombies. If there is not literal voodoo magick involved in the origination of the film’s zombies/infected thenI don’t see the difference from one zombie to another. One of the few sticking points with me when it comes to this film is that the creators wanted to avoid being associated with the zombie genre because at the time it was still B-film horror that never garnered much via the box office. The other thing that annoys me is the intro to the film, as an animal rights person I am sooo taken out of the film when I see the activists unmasked and when they don’t seem to know what the lab their raiding is all about because the kinds of activists that rescue animals like that have usually done the research about what the facility is, what they do, how they do it, etc., and of course, they’d all be masked, (so if it’s a situation where the actors are like, “I need them to see my face for the reel,” then have a shot before hand where they’re putting their masks on.) Also, if a scientist is pleading with these activists, there’s no way they’d shot “they’re infected…with rage,” because that is incredibly stupid. They’d probably try to scientifically explain it or would just say, “it’s contagious, and it’s like rabies.” Right? Anyway, if y’all have not seen the sequel 28 Weeks Later (2007,) it is worth the watch. Also, if y’all have not read the book World War Z, not only do I highly recommend reading it, (it’s nothing like the film-Literally, at all,) I absolutely recommend reading the full-cast audiobook, (there’s probably as many big names in that audiobook’s cast as there are in 2023’s Oppenheimer.)

Fabulous movie. I'm glad people are recommending 28 Weeks Later, but you should also check out Train to Busan, if you haven't already seen it.

From imdb: If you have Hulu (or Disney Star in Canada), you might have noticed that Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later is no longer available. Indeed, Disney lost the rights to the independently financed original film, with them now only owning the rights to the Searchlight-financed sequel, 28 Weeks Later. That’s why you can’t find it on streaming sites and why the Blu-ray Disc is out of print. Sony now owns the rights to the film, with it being part of the package they acquired when they bought the rights to finance the upcoming Danny Boyle/ Alex Garland sequel, 28 Years Later. So, presumably, Sony will be reissuing the film in the near future. (Incidentally, filming started just recently in the North East of England and there were call-ups for 'fast running athletic people' to sign up in the local press. They are soon to film in Cheddar Gorge in the south too).

Thank you girls for the reactions. I love watching you girls react to all our favorite movies. Unfortunately the channel seems to have forgotten about the rest of us. It starting to be a rare instance that you girls react to movies. I get the appeal for tv shows but for the rest of your viewers, we have jobs and priorities that do not allow us time to sit and binge watch an entire series. I wish there were more reactions to our favorite movies than TV shows. I do appreciate you girls. I'd like to say thank you, you helped me get through my depression during covid by seeing you three appreciate all the same scenes in movies I did. Just a thought. 🙂❤ keep up the good work!
