If you want to speed up the viewport just drop down the Display Percentage on the instance node instead of bounding box. That will get you squared away nicely :)

hey, sounds useful. where can I find this option?

@@JohnnyFehr Right where you were when you set it to bounding box. Just under that you will see the Percentage is at 100% with a slider. If you drop that down to 1 you get all your viewport smoothness back. Cheers

Mash is slow anyway when it comes to scattering

11:05 Maybe a better approach might be *not* crank up the number of instances at first. But instead set a low number like 200 and tweak the randomness values in a lag-free fashion. *Then* crank up the instances.

Thanks for the tutorial. But one thing is not clear for me, are those only scattered planes or do they have a displacement thickness ?
@iceman101294 жыл бұрын
Megascans atlases have displacement that can be used but with the size you may not need to use it. You are adding so many instances all in random directions that it will fool almost anyone.

yes. this is scattered planes with displacement enabled. In my early tests, I saw that it helps a bit to break up the sharper lines from the poly planes when they are parallel to the camera. But as Erich said.it is not that super necessary. if you know you won't have it that near to the camera you can leaf it without displacement and save render time.
