Scene at UW-Madison in Wisconsin as college protests continue, tensions escalate, arrests made

Pro-Palestinian rallies at UW-Madison continued Wednesday, as hundreds of people, mostly students, called for cutting university ties to Israel and for peace in Gaza.
UW-Madison Police reported arresting a total of 34 people during Wednesday morning’s standoff between protesters and officers, the majority of whom were released without a citation.
UW-Madison Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin said she authorized the police intervention Wednesday because the encampment posed an increasing safety risk to the campus community.
The clash came after repeated warnings about camping not being allowed on campus grounds.

Im a UW alum. The irony is the students protesting should be studying right now for finals, large amounts are coasties/out of staters like my old roommates whose parents paid $80k a year for them and they barely even studied because they were basically getting a free ride... those in that demographic have fallen into the liberal privileged bubble. They think they are grassroots, they think they're warriors. No they're just going to go back to their $2k/mo studio apt in a high rise to go edit pictures to add hashtags they were at the protests for Insta. I strongly support all American University students protesting the war in Gaza, as many students protesting, are actually lead by pro-justice Jewish students. Students want an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. They are protesting the killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza (34,000 have been murdered, majority are women and children). End this war, ceasefire now….return all hostages, return Palestinian prisoners…..free speech, free Gaza’
