okay, first, the tall shoes are not an oiran's koma geta... they're completely solid, whereas an oiran's shoes are forked. and she's literally just wearing a kimono that's more detailed... that doesn't make it the same sort of kimono an oiran would wear. you're basically just saying you have no idea what an oiran is lol because this is not what an oiran looks like. this movie is also extremely westernized, so acting like it has any historical accuracy is just setting yourself up for disappointment

@@elisabethhughes6005 I mean to be fair there aren't many geisha films out there. It does suck that one with such good actresses and such a high budget paid no attention to any authenticity at all. The dance is definitely completely incorrect, the mode of dance would be called modern dance even by todays standards, but also the makeup is a little painful. The lipstick and eyeliner and mascara it's all so Western it's just strange and out of place.

@@justbg okay. I mean this is just entertainment and not a documentary. Entertainment is never accurate. Almost any culture has been cartoon-ized. It’s almost what people expect. You’ve obviously educated yourself highly about geisha or Japanese traditional culture. We can hardly expect others to be on that level.

@@TanukiDigital Dude, I'm Korean. Everyone thought I was Chinese or Japanese growing up. In 2005, people in the US still couldn't tell the difference. A smallish segment in the US is only now figuring out the differences between the East Asian countries. And, that's not middle America. Side note: I helped a Korean girl I was dating move from Kentucky to the West Coast. We drove and I distinctly remember our one stop at a diner. All heads turned and stared at us when we walked in. Everything was quiet. You'd think we were aliens. One of the most uncomfortable situations in my life.

@@HKim0072 Sorry dude. There are a lot of ignorant people in this world who just have never seen people who don't look like themselves. When I was in China people stared at me like you wouldn't believe, some wanted to get a picture with me because they'd never seen a non-Chinese person in real life before. It happens. HOWEVER. Movie makers, directors, Hollywood know better, they just hilariously decided it didn't matter. It says more about them than it does the mass of humanity.
