This song is in my blood. I listened to it on repeat when I was 16/17. Still remember every word. Felt like I just wanted to find a road and drive forever. “You were riding to hide or you were looking for a brand new life, did you ever think you’d find one back home? Did you even think you’d get out alive? Could you imagine then the love you now know?” I moved away from home for six years, and I found my way back. Insane how much this song speaks to me now, still. This is the purpose of art. Thank you for creating art, La Dispute.

I still remember being about 18 when this masterpiece of an album released. Had to listen about 10 times before actually understanding and appreciating it properly. 9 years later still coming back

because you didn't appreciate the colorful music they presented to you previously, so they dumbed it down and sold out to appeal to the masses instead.

believe what you will, but it's pretty apparent the rotholcopter is not up to par with their previous releases. in every sense. The Drums on most tracks sound like a drum machine beat on loop. So sad considering how dynamic and creative the beats generally are, makes me really miss those fancy fills. guitar work is typical, and bland, and foreseeable. that is CRAZY to cus chad is a phenomenal guitar player (probably my favorite guitar player actually) All his work is incredibly creative and he's just so much better than what was recorded on the rotholcopter. How about that writing to? I mean i have never had a problem getting what Jordan was saying, and his writing is always so well done, but on this rotholcopter basically all the songs are pretty cut, dry, and to the essentially empty point. If you liked the rotholcopter it boils down to one of these two cases. 1.You like pretty normal music, and weren't really a huge fan of them before this album. Your top tracks outside of this album at best are ssh kingpark andria said the king to the river. ... some shit like that. or 2. You are a legit fan but are in denial about the quality of the album. You don't want to admit it's not that great, cus you love all their previous work so much. If this is the case, you have to remember that it doesn't really reflect on all wonderful past albums.

xNinTend0K0REx I'm not gonna try to argue this musically, because I'm not of the same musical caliber you appear to be. But I will say that I'm not gonna take your criticism on my views on La Dispute, because I love *all* their albums, including this one. And I'll say that this one is one of my favorites. It's not denial, it's not La Dispute dick-sucking, I just really enjoy this album. Maybe I like normal music. Is that such a bad thing? But I can count the fans of La Dispute I personally know on one hand. It's not really normal music to begin with. I love this album because it's so domestic, so personal; they're stories being told from a bittersweet past. And maybe I can't see it because I don't have that musical know-how, but maybe that's better in my case. I don't really have a point to make here, but your criticism and assumptious attitude isn't gonna get you anywhere or me to change my mind. I'd like to end this here, lest it get out of hand. Thanks.

I must commend you for having a much more mature outlook than most the ld fanbase (teenage girls on the inside that like such small hands) given that i'll try to be constructive here. Have you listened to the here,hear albums? There is enough there to keep you thinking for a lifetime. And if you are into the story telling bit then Wildlife kills it dude. Wildlife is about a fictional character experiencing mostly all real events, but he receives them in an order that shapes his outlook on life from a sort of self loathing childish one into beautiful full contentment and understanding. Also if you are into Vancouver there is some stuff going on there that is hard to track down that i have heard about. All i have managed to find so far is an extended version of "Fairmount" As for demos, they seem particularly hard to find, i have only found 2 so far, if you would like, and don't have them already feel free to rip the audio and have them to keep, they are pretty decent.

does la dispute have a book with all their lyrics in them? because they need to. this isnt something that i can constantly listen to, but i would pay money to own some sort of written form of the lyrics to these songs.

Can someone explain to me why I love this band so much? I don't get it. I loved At.The.Drive.In too back in the day. Just never understood what it was about these kind of songs that I related to because it's so... "odd".

I wonder what the 1981 part has to do with the song, was this a parallel between the characters life and his father's?

I wonder why all the footage seems to be from the early 60s.. Anyone know? I'm interested
@gregswitala10 жыл бұрын
I think they used some stock footage and blurred it. The main intention here was to upload the songs with lyrics so people would come here to listen to their music, otherwise people would post these same songs only with lyrics in the video on other channels, which does not support the band. Adding the old footage was just a little extra, kinda suits the tone of the album. Does that make sense.

Black Sacrament They only use more like indie punk guitar tone, and raw melodies. For me La Dispute want to change they style a bit. Older albums have math rock elements that dont fit into theyr style.
