Eva got blasted by the particle accelerator explosion, towards a mirror. The mirror got the meta powers applied to it. Real eva hit the mirror and bounced back, dying from impact. when real eve hit the meta-infused mirror, it created a mirror duplicate that got "trapped" in the mirror universe. mirror eve had all the memories and personality of real eva so of course she thought she was the real one all this time. Couple that with years 'stuck' in the mirrorverse and the building insanity, she ends up becoming a villain. Geez, it's kind of a tragic story.

Ok so I have not seen the show yet. It's my plan next year to watch the Arrowverse in order. But.... is Eva just Evan McCulloch? Or are they totally different characters, and if they are the same, does anyone know why they opted for Eva instead of adapting Evan? The only reason I ask is because Evan McCulloch Mirror Master is actually one of my favorite DC characters ever.

I think its because The Flash already have a Mirror Master, so gender swapping the character would make things Kinda not confusing plus there isnt to many iconic female flash villans
