Gotta love the "Armstrong" steering system. I learned how to drive a large vehicle like this using the system. theyre right. can only turn it while in motion. so youre forced to think ahead.

@Chesterbarnes1 the cruiser had no power steering from what i heard, it was all manual and you could only turn the whee while the bus was in motion. same thing like on a GM fishbowl.

@Chesterbarnes1 Question....was this difficult steering typical for the PD 4501, or is it age and this particular bus you're driving that has tough steering. Former Greyhound Bus driver have told me that the PD 4501 was a jewel to drive and floated like a baby on the road. The Sliverside were good buses they said but had DIFFICULT STEERING in town 5 to 10 miles per house trying to turn corner. True or False?

@Chesterbarnes1 It's not power steering. It's what is called "armstrong" steering.

Boy tht power steering is tough. Why?

Probably because the whole steering mechanism is shot to hell. That coach is upwards of 70 plus years old. At #107, out of a thousand of them, it's one of the oldest ones extant, and it is obvious it needs a lot of work.

True... nor do real truck, car, van, or tram drivers, either.
