The reason I put strong perfume is because I hate smelling “natural” body smells of people and I’m very sensitive to smells around me too but I’d rather be drowned in perfume than drowned in people sweat

These are honestly the most informative videos on Japan (regarding everyday life) I have found on KZbin. If the production was different (fancy camera and sound, music, lots of fast editing) I am sure this channel would blow up. Personally I like it like this. Please don't change, thanks for the videos! I use tea leaf candle or electric warmer. It is the same concept for oils or wax melts but instead warms tea leafs. The containers are made of the same ceramic that absorbs flavour of tea for tea pots. This absorbs the scent and makes it more full (not stronger) with use. For myself I use oil perfumes which are more subtle. I love this traditional Kyoto brand thats been operating through generations: Chidoriya. U just use their body/face oil because it smells so elegant but natural and subtle. I also like Japanese body spray with shampoo scent. Clean delicate and fresh. An american brand that is great is also called "clean" their fragrance called "skin" is so soft subtle and elegant. I cannot use storng scents they cause me migraines.

as a person who likes to smell nice and put on cologne the best way to put it on is under the cloths and let it mix with your natural body oils to produce a smell unique to you. one spritz is enough and 2 is pushing it. the goal isn't to smell like the cologne and I think that's where people go wrong because if I can smell you from more than 5 feet away there's a problem. use it sparingly its a lot more noticeable to others than it is to you, but obviously if Santi telling you not to put it on don't put it on

You'll notice it when you're there too. The obnoxious, pungent stench of tourists will totally ruin the gentle relaxation and quiet, respectful experience in all social settings. The crowds in Tokyo and Kyoto are pretty epic in areas and a melange of artificial odours fighting for airspace would aggravate and stress people. With fresh-off-the-boat tourists, you'll smell them when then walk into a cafe or onto the train well before you see them. They'll strike you as cheap, obnoxious and ignorant. I made a mental note too the first time I went to Japan as I love wearing high end niche fragrances and a lot of make up. One out of the two had to go. No guesses as to which one I chose to forsake. I had no idea how lovely the absence of people's personal odour was until an ignorant tourist first smashed my zen with their fragrance-drenched clothing. I think it's tiny details like having 'no fragrance language' screaming incoherently and continuously in crowds, as that would attach space to each physical body and add to the feeling of mental and emotional claustrophobia, if that makes sense. There's already sensory overload in big cities so this consideration is small but unbelievably effective and powerful. It feels safe, calm and respectful and 'psychically spacious'-- and you don't even notice it. Until it's gone. As with many things in life, the value is felt upon its sudden absence. :)

What kind of incense do Japanese people like? There are many types I understand. Personally I use Palo Santo. Its a Native American wood from the Navajo Nation.

I think I belong in Japan because most of Santi's videos are the things that I actually agree, now this again, I also am not a fan of wearing perfume or cologne but rather prefer scents or air fresheners, the relaxing ones. I like the smell mint also. I'd rather have the smell of coffee or mint tea in the atmosphere. And the smell of clean, yes.

You're so right. Again. Still, I'd love you to review some fragrances from the 'J-Scent' house. I wonder if the do samples on their website? I've never tried anything by them but your 'test drive' of them in public would be very interesting.

Cologne is part of my life lol. So if ever do go to Japan they're just going to have to deal with it :-) also because I'm legally blind if I won't notice them giving me a dirty look anyways so I'll probably just smile and nod LOL

I think Japanese people would like "patchouli essential oil", 3 drops on your hands, rub them together and then apply it on your chest and neck after a shower and you are ready.
