Schaaf I saw this video one year ago, you made me buy this bike. Now after 1year and 2 weeks, with 23000km, 6 tire set used, 2 set of brake pads... I can say it's the best option comparing to all other "sport touring" bikes (F900XR, GSX1000GT, Tracer 9 GT...) tested all of them. Thanks for your content, and for making me discover this hell of a bike. Greetings!

The engine sound gets better with additional miles on the bike. My RT has. The roll on power in 6th gear is quite good from around 80 mph, it is quite easy to end up past 100 mph when passing a car. I've test ridden the R, RS and GS. The R feels the most agile but lacks wind protection (so far so obvious). The RS feels longer and bigger and the cockpit is pants. The GS is a happy medium - good weather protection, but comfortable and the visibility is brilliant in traffic or riding fast. I used to think the RS was the goldilocks model but it wasn't for me.

Great video, great sound! I appreciate the lack of crappy background music, just the sweet sound of the engine being ridden hard and fast. Also appreciate the lack of constant blah blah blah chatter that most bike reviewers engage in. I have a 2021 R1250RS and absolutely love it. I mostly ride it in town or short local rides, and for my very short work commute (2 miles). The bike is so nimble in town, but I love to get out on local back roads or short interstate jaunts to wind it out and enjoy that shift cam engine. I have not yet gotten into the mountains with it. I did ride an R1250RT in Italy and Austria last year with my wife as passenger. Loved it. It's a bit heavier than the RS, but very comfortable with my wife riding with me. I believe she may have rebelled if we were riding 2-up on the RS. My other bike is a 2018 K1600GTL. It is a bit heavier for in town, but a dream for long distance touring and mountain roads. The engine is so sweet and the quick-shifter is like buttah! If I had to have only 1 bike, it would be the RT, but having the RS and the GTL is the best solution for me.

Those downshifts look pretty violent... A lot of bangs from gearbox and rear wheel slides. Is this you being hard on the rear brake or it is caused by quickshifter?

Shaft drive is quite unforgiving if you change down too early
@pavelm87365 жыл бұрын
@@goldfever4570 Yep, I know. I have shaft driven 1200cc with single plate dry clutch... But in this BMW case quickshifter electronics should revmatch during downshift. If this doesn´t work 100% than antihop clutch should save the situation. So I´m wondering what is causing a lot of rear wheel slides and hops in the video. Is it quickshifter not working ideally during downshifts or Schaaf being heavy on the right foot?
@Schaaf5 жыл бұрын
It's the rear ABS kicking in. There actually isn't any hopping or sliding. But: I wasn't even touching the rear brake. The brakes are linked and when using the front brake violently the rear gets engaged as well. Hard enough to kick in ABS. It's a bit annoying but not an issue when riding!

I think you are going to find the RS is in a class of it's own. Not quite as harsh as a true sport bike, but able to hang in there with them is pushed. I have a few more years on my body and still enjoy it. Also have a new RT that I take on longer tours. I do not ride aggressively either bike. I bought my RT a little over a year ago and found it a bit top heavy. I dropped it a couple of times due to not having the strength in my legs to keep it up at a stop. So I purchased an RS just to get to a point where I got more familiar with it then transition back to the RT when I felt better able to handle it. It has worked. But that RT is a handful. At 68 I should have thought it through more. Definitely take one for a ride though. I have 14 years on you and things change as you approach 70 years old

Génial. J'ai une GSA et ne me lasse pas du son de son flat. Quel ronronnement gracieux aux oreilles !

Rather keep both hands on the handlebars, you can greet them later in the pub. :) Is the rear tyre chirping on the downshift, no slipper clutch?

waving at fellow bikers is one of my favourite things to do. Definitely won't stop doing that. Laws of physics tell me it's okay and safe

Is that exhaust OEM? Can you comment on arrow exhaust? I own a BMW R1200rt and I’m interested in that particular exhaust.... thank you and congratulations on a great video

01:08 how did you do that? Rear break? or shift down? i think it sounds like abs..
@Schaaf4 жыл бұрын
Front brake only. It is the combined braking system's fault

How you meade it sound like this ? It dosent sound like this stuck right?
@gammaraytube4 жыл бұрын
My question is what are you doing that causes the back tire to sound like it's locking up? Do you have the traction control off and your downshifting with too high revs? Like riding and watch out for deer, drivers pulling out of side roads, etc. You may have the skills but you are taking some risk on an open, public road. Stay safe and don't rely too much on other factors not coming into play.
@Schaaf4 жыл бұрын
it's close to locking up because I'm hard on the front brake and the unneccessary combined braking then engages the rear too. Actually I'm not using the rear brake myself. I have adapted my style of riding over the years to a somewhat decent pace. I know the road by heart. Know all the intersections. I go for inspection runs before the video. Although I do gamble with deer crossings. Although those will end fatal, no matter if 100kph or 150...

@Schaaf i really want to to put the R1250RT through its paces and give a review. I am so torn between the RT and the RS ... both bikes have always been on my wish list. You seem to ride more like how i ride
@Schaaf2 жыл бұрын
I'm a big fan of the RT but unfortunately I could never film it. The RT is quite a bit more comfort orientated but you can still go very fast with it. And it handles nicer than the RS

Dammit. I've had an F900R for less than a year and I've officially got the BMW bug. I'd never been interested in the brand before but after living with one, they really just a bike that does everything well and nothing badly. You could accuse that as meaning no character, but I just call it brilliant engineering.
@Schaaf3 жыл бұрын
try the Boxer engines. They combine brilliant engineering with character ;)
