Schaller Lockmeister Review

Review of the Schaller Lockmeister Floyd Rose type tremmolo and pre-setup.

The Official Floyd Rose tremolo is also made by...Schaller. Many don't know that fact.

on the schaller website it says that with the shim is 12" radius and without is 16" radius...

You need that spacer in there to put preload on the fine tuner springs. It's made like that, with enough room, in case you wanted to use a bigger thicker block. Since it's a stock thin block, that plate supports the spring fingers

I'm having no problems with preload on the finetuners.

All the original Floyds were made by Schaller, if your buy a Schaller it is basically a Floyd rose but with Schaller on it.

Would the Schaller lockmeister work wit a ltd ec1000 deluxe VB. The radius is 13.7?

what guitar you have with R5 nut? I want a R5 because of the width of the neck and I have bigger hands but they are rare .

A bit weird that one has to create a radius by means of shims... Otherwise this is a magnificent product.

Whithout that litle metal shim that comes under the saddles (11:29), its radius goes to 16". When you put the tape under the saddles, what radius did you intend to go to?

Looking at Schallers technical drawings they specify the radius at 12" without the shim under the 4 middle saddles and it is my understanding that the shim is used to get a 10" radius to match the locking nut. Companies such as stewmac and all parts sell individual saddle shims to reach a greater radius. My fretboard is a 10"-16" compound and i used a radius gage at 22'end fret to match the string radius to the fretboard radius.

Get rid of the tone sucking spacer, throw an FU big brass block on it and go crank up. The price is no better than original FR prices so I see no advantage.

I totally agree. That spacer can’t help tone and probably hurts resonance. Still not sure what it’s for in the first place. I remove mine and have never had any problems. Added an FU brass big block and my guitar sings for days.
