Our session explores how the vulnerabilities of the global supply chain can have repercussions for the security interests of trading nations and countries close to the supply routes. Interruptions in the Suez Canal last month, for example, had a real impact on the flow of trade, and the interests of dozens of countries and companies. We’ll consider how such incidents can also create hazards for nearby states, and opportunities for bad actors, from pirates to terrorists.
