we are in the process of upgrading to 2020 sp2. We are looking at the schedule production app. We cannot see anything in there. is there any special configuration needed other than the Production Line entry in the material master mrp4? how do you make a pacemaker work center? is that something that needs a special configuration?

The most important thing is to make sure the work centers have capacity defined. That is the most likely issue you have. In particular look for "relevant for finite scheduling" and a standard capacity has been set up. It should work from there.
