Your close up camera work, showing your idea of what you are hoping to creature, by every cut you do, is very well done and is extremely important to a novice like me. I like hearing you explain why you are cutting because to me, it makes sense. Nigel, your ideas are inspiring and I like how you think. Sorry to hear about Majics car accident. RIP Majic.

I agree with the memorial tree suggestions in previous comments, condolences. I was eyeing up these trees at the nursery I brought my Dad to on Sunday for our weekly walk. Was much too cold to walk outside. Today it was -15C most of the day where I was working. The wind was cutting through you. My Dad loves to go see and touch all the plants and flowers, different colours. I will try to bring him to the conservatory next Sunday. He has Alzheimer's. He said the leaves on the Schefflera look like animal footprints. He's too cute! Thanks for the video Nigel :)

If you were Obelix, you could pick up that stone with your fingers. :D Vietnamese bonsai is another version of Chinese bonsai, the artistic culture is very different from that of Japan. But there are not many conifers and deciduous trees in Southeast Asia. The art of Vietnamese bonsai focuses more on the creation of miniature landscapes, imitating the landscape of islands in the middle of a lake.

I am pretty confused on how pruning and ramification work with schefflera bonsai. Such as how it responds to pruning and ramification, in particular: Where to prune (branches, cut angles, leaves, stems, etc), and how to influence direction of growth. Please help!

@TheBonsaiZone
@TheBonsaiZone 4 жыл бұрын
Only if the tree is kept under poor conditions, too little light, too cold a temperature or not enough humidity. You have to be very careful that when the new leaves emerge, they do not get attacked by insects as this can be fatal to the tree also!

Hey Nigel, what do you use to control the humidity in your plant room?
@TheBonsaiZone
@TheBonsaiZone 4 жыл бұрын
With the number of trees in my plant room, the humidity always stays quite high, usually between 40 to 75 percent. I mist at least twice a day, morning and night and usually mid day if the sun is shining. The room is sealed off from the rest of the house, so it doesn't get any forced air heat. I have a radiator style heater in the room and a fan to circulate the air.
