As a kid in middle school, I had the opportunity to watch my uncle perform in a state orchestra, alongside professional story-tellers from a company. This piece was one of the stories they told, (amongst others like "Peter and the Wolf" and other tales.) I will never forget the moment of awe and wonder I experienced after hearing this solo. I vowed that someday I'd be able to play it on the violin and I'm trying to live up to that expectation.

This is a beautiful ensemble, but right here is my favorite part of the whole piece. It's the part where you can just imagine she's telling the story, and maybe, just maybe, the Sultan's not believing her and she's begging for her life. It's heart rending.

@Darkin Why? At least it is getting people curious about classical music. Who cares what brought them here; they want to find more about beautiful music. We should be grateful to Leverage for introducing a new audience to a masterful piece.

ShadowIsatis It's one of the most difficult violin solos ever written.
@billace905 жыл бұрын
Very difficult. However a talented violinist with the proper instrument can do it. And it takes many hours of practice to master it. This part is always played by the Concertino ( First violin) of the Orchestra.
