2nd roadside logging of 2023 some really nice red oak.

I was able to get into the woods for some really nice Red oak blow downs 2 truckloads hauled back to the house.

Hey Scheib Love your work ! Hustling to get it done . I've crippled my back lifting big rounds . Crushed 5 disks in my lower back, rupturing 2 . STOP picking up those huge rounds ! I now cary a 3×10 , 6ft long , and roll them big fatties up. You should too ! Amazing how big you can roll vs lift !!! Plank comes in handy for getting the truck unstuck, jacking, off road !! I'm still like you , bull in the china shop, but I can barely tie my boots. Roll , don't lift !!! Glenn Egan

Nice video. I notice that you were putting a lot of strain on your lower back when loading those big rounds. Two simple options is to :1) place a round at the base of the truck and lift onto that round, then move it onto the truck or 2) get a single steel or aluminium loading ramp (such atv loading ramp) and simply roll the big pieces onto the truck. Once you slip a disk or wrench your back, you will never be the same. Better to prevent and injury before it happens. Take care!!

I busted my gut and back about a month ago just picking up a round of red oak to set on my splitter. I now have my splitter sitting on the ground with a 2x10 ramp hanging off the side so I can roll the rounds onto the splitter. I just wasn’t thinking when I grab hold of that round, and I paid for it.

I love the look of that truck, some sharp. I love working around storm trees too, it's a different type of cutting that takes experience, you need an eye for danger and even then it's unpredictable. You got that eye, I can tell, you're a smart man, good video bud.

Good job. In my part of the world we call that "ditch wood". Looks like you caught it at the right time (after the bark fell off but before it started to get punky). I have had those root balls stand back up as I got closer to the base.

Nice score Scheib. Thanks for bringing us along. I just did some field side logging over the weekend. Scored a 1/3 of a cord of cherry so far. Have another big cherry tree to drag out of the pickers it fell into and I think another decent sized oak that went over with it. Unfortunately the ash the blew over in that storm was too far gone to salvage. Keep up the great work!

I take timber from the roadside here in Cali. A little battery chainsaw helps me cut up the logs. Kinda supriseing how much free wood is laying around the freeways lol

I purchased a Kubota 008 excavator and installed a hydraulic thumb. I take the 008 in the dump trailer and and load the trailer and truck then come back for the 008. If im in an area I dont trust leaving the 008 I just load the truck and take the 008 with me. Lifting injuries suck.

Nice haul from the Roadside. It looked like that second log was easier to cut due to it being at standing height for you while cutting for most of it. As others have suggested, you should try to carry a wide piece of plank wood to roll up big rounds.
