One of the things that makes the shaving hobby fun is the wide variety of razors, blades, soaps, presheaves and aftershaves. DE shaving remains king. However, trying out different cartridge razors remains interesting. Our hobby has lots of variety and is a personal pursuit as to what works best for each of us. Meanwhile, my personal favorite is vintage, antique Gillette DE razors using modern DE blades of choice. My birth year (1951) Gillette slim razor is amazing. Close and comfortable shaves while sort of reliving the past. Ken, thanks for the regular videos. Constancy look forward to each of your shaving vids regardless of what razor or products you are using.

I've been using Schick Quattro since 2008 nothing else . Originally released in 2003 . The 4 blade titanium cartridges just work for me . Yes a bowl of hot water is imperative to open the pores for a comfortable effective shave 🪒.

One complaint I have about the wet shaving community is that a lot of them tend to be whiny and overconfident that their stuff works and kind of never wrong about anything, but, what I like about you is that you're just so easygoing and willing to try out different stuff and you seem like a very happy man and I love your content! Nice review, however, this cartridge doesn't have a lube strip - it has a gel reservoir, it comes from these rectangular holes on a blue part of the cartridge. It would be nice to add that this part can be put back like if it was on hinges and you get a nice access to the blades part only, which enables you to have an easier access e.g. to the nostrils area or a more aggressive closer shave. I like the Schick Cartridge Razors, the Quattro was my first razor but moved up to the Hydro5 when it was first released. When I'm in a hurry I reach for this one 👍

Spanish version of Aqua Velva, I love it. Hard to find these days, I stocked up just in case. I know you try to accommodate all shavers and that's a good thing. Soap did look to lather good, a little work with water and a bowl would most likely produce a mountain of cream. Great shave! Enjoy!

I bought a Schick 6 for half price at Woolworths. Haven't tried it yet. I think the only reason I bought it was because it had a awesome stand. Looks just like a racing car tyre.😊

Great shave. I’ve seen the two older versions of Nosferatu for film class lately. The first was the 1922 silent film and the other was the 1979 version directed by Werner Herzog. I haven’t seen the new version of Nosferatu though. Have a good one!

They look like the handle also fits the Hydro 3 when looking them up online in Denmark we dont have it as Schick its Wilkinson in Europe found a site where they sis show all hydro razors are compatible with the different hydro heads not the extreme heads great shaving video as always Ken, i´m wondering the lube strip cant you push that back to make head more slim ? Wilkinson swords its possible must be cheap going to the movies over there here NO i watch Venom 3 love it stay safe...cheers Peter

Actually, Ken, you have used a Schick cartridge razor before, or at the least a Schick cartridge! Remember the Cremo Barber Grade Razor? It uses a Schick blade cartridge that also contains five blades. The only difference between the one you used today and the Cremo razor is perhaps in the colour and the gel inside what Schick calls 'gel pods' (the Cremo one uses a special Cremo gel).

I've never been a fan of the Hydro or Mach/Fusion style razors. I find that having 3 or 5 blades in the 'paddle' really doesn't give me a better shave. The larger cartridge is more difficult to maneuver and doesn't follow the curves of my face as well as the smaller Sensor and X-treme 3 cartridges do. I end up having to make more passes and leads to irritation. The cartridges for the older razors are becoming increasingly hard to find and more expensive. It's the main reason I switched to double-edge blades.

The cartridge and disposable razors have their place. I have found multiblade razors to be more irritating for face-shaving. Also five-blade system is not always better than three-blade system.

When I was still cartridge shaving I tried the Schick hydro because the cartridges were only 2.50-3 dollars compared to 5 for the Gillette. Well you get what you pay for. First time I used a Schick hydro I got an ingrown hair immediately. I think it’s the little extra fins they put on the blades. I bet the 3 blade sensitive ones are better but I just wet shave now problem solved.

Hard to get Schick-branded items here unless you can get them delivered online which increases the cost, so don't bother, not really needed anyway. Califonia does have water, so much so that millions of litter are dumped into the sea FACT.
