I have had my FREYA PLUS for three years and what I love is that you change the tubes and direct the sound to your liking, it does not have any background noise and the number of inputs and outputs make it unique for the price, in addition to having a design very pretty, especially in silver. The stereo image is quite precise and the bass has good grip, but you must use the appropriate tubes, the FREYA shows this with each change of tubes, and you learn that with these tests, time and use. That's the beauty of this PRE, you give it the color you want...Thank you for the review Tharbamar, it is a great product for many to be interested in.

I find mixing tubes from gian to buffer allows even more customization of the sound. I like Mullards with NOS RCA tubes. It's hard to not fall in love with the tube magic. From experience I suggest you get in the habit of unplugging your preamp to change tubes. changing tubes with some part of the preamp on is a recipe for smoke in your listening room.

Wow, great review. Your system must sound incredible. The Freya + and Aegir combo is one of the most musical combos I’ve heard. Schiit is on a roll! Also, great idea to have isolation footers under the Freya, which will add much improved cooling. BTW, the samples sound amazing.

I've been watching your channel for years. Glad to see you are enjoying Schiit equipment. I have Schiit Gungnir, Freya and Freya S, a pair of Vidars and a pair of Aegirs, and my latest, the Mani 2 phono pre. Oh yes, lots of Schiit headphone gear too. 😎

If you plan on doing tube rolling, you should install some socket savers as the sockets are sunk so far down that to remove a tube you have to pull on the glass part of the tube as the tube base is below the top panel of the Freya+. This is not a good idea as the tube glass is glued to the base and you shouldn’t be pulling up on the glass part of the tube to remove it. Tube savers will raise the tube up so you can remove the tube by pulling up on the tube base. It will also save wear and tear on the tube sockets in the Freya+ which are soldered to a circuit board and are not easy to replace. The problem is that I tried many different tube savers made inthe USA and China and they all have a death grip on the tube so that when you pull the tube out the tube saver usually comes out along with the tube. I finally found a tube saver made by Novik that will work as it doesn’t grip the tube nearly as hard as the other ones do. You just need to use another tube saver or 6SN7 tube and plug it in and remove it many many times until the grip of the socket saver loosens up a bit. Then it will stay in the Freya+ tube socket when you remove the tube. The Novik socket savers look very nice with their silver metal base. Unfortunately, the Novik socket savers are getting harder to find now because of the Russia / Ukrainian war. But you can still find them on Ebay from sellers in Kazakhstan. Just do a search on Ebay for Novik octal 8-pin socket saver.

To all you tube rollers that may own some LISST sold state tubes, try putting two of your LISST tubes in the two left hand buffer tube sockets and put two of your 6SN7 tubes in the two right hand gain tube sockets and let me know how you think it sounds. I think they really sound good together. I'm currently running two LISST in the left two sockets and two Shuguang CV181Z tubes in the two right hand tube sockets of my Freya+ and I think they sound great together. You get several benefits by using two LISST with two 6SN7 tubes which I have listed below: 1. LISST don’t draw any heater filament current so your filament current transformer only has to supply half of the current it would with four tubes installed. I’ve seen many people say that they have had problems with this transformer failing because with four tubes installed, it is running very close to its maximum output. 2. LISST don’t wear out like tubes do so when your tubes do need to be replaced you only have to replace two tubes which saves you a lot of money. Also if you want to do tube rolling you only need to buy two tubes instead of four which will save you a lot of money. 3. Your Freya+ runs much cooler because you only have the heat from two tubes instead of four. Reply

FYI I ordered the tube socket savers you referred in this video but they did not fit in the original Freya sockets. I sent them back via Amazon return process 😮

They have two different types, you have to make sure 8 pins not the one with 9 pins.
@JJ-no2ob7 ай бұрын
@@Tharbamar Thanks for the reply. They are the 8 pin but I suspect the holes in the chassis of original Fraya are smaller than the Freya +

Thanks! Hey Buddy! Love your videos. I have FREYA + and KLIPSCH HERITAGE IV. I want to buy Schitt Vidar OR Schitt Aegir. 1. Would you recommend AEGIR or VIDAR? 2. would you recommend EVERSOLO DAC (6 or 8) or denefrips 15? Thanks in advance! 🙏🏼 Chris

Did you use the SE out RC connections of Freya to connect the Mono block class D amps respectively ? Do you think connecting Freya to Fosi Audio ZA3 in mono blocks setup would be a good idea?
@Tharbamar7 ай бұрын
I was using XLR cable, it should be fine with any amps most of the time, only to need be careful with gain control on paring power amps like ZA3.

Hi everyone, I see that it has a balanced output and two RCAs. Are the two RCA outputs both variable or is one of them fixed? Thank you.

Planning on adding a pre amp on my Denon SX11 because the volumne control using the remote is too rough (meaning adding or reducing too much volumne by one hit) , will it improve the sound quality ? BTW my dac is pontus II , speakers are focal 1028 be. Currently enjoying the synergy but wanted to cut a bit of warmth and richness and improve spacious , transparency. Will be very thankful to hear your opinion .

External pre can improve the sound but I would say start with the DAC, may be something with AKM chips, thanks

Well done! Did you try driving your Accuphase integrated with it? I use mine with a vintage Accuphase power amp and love the combination.

It should pair well with stock JJ tubes or gain stage tube upgrades.
